I love hearing about random acts of kindness. It seems like I never think to do them until it's too late, or I'm too shy at the time to pull it off.

I plan to pay for someone's toll behind me soon. With Christmas coming up, maybe I could pay off someone's layaway, although that was kind of overdone last year!

What random act of kindness have you done? Please share!

Yes, but I'd rather stay anonymous about such things.

No, not really. I just figure that most people aren't worthy of it.

    Not in a long while..

It happened several years ago, I was traveling through the Panhandle of Texas and stopped off to fill up my car when this woman drove in off the interstate and begged the gas station owner to give her enough gas to get home.

He turned her down and since I had my credit card out I offered to fill up her tank. She couldn’t say enough good things about me before driving off. [IMG]

Do you take joy in anything? You seem like a smart guy, but you come across as constantly miserable.

He is what you would call melancholic. He wears Joy Division shirts, so what do you expect?

He posted a dashboard camera video on youtube a few years ago in which he seemed to be genuinely enjoying himself as he drove through town - I think that's it, the only time I can remember

I don't know if this really qualifies...but many times when I've been shopping and somebody (and it has been up to several people!) is behind me with only 1 or 2 items or even with several in their hands but they are old or even have a baby, I always let them go before me. It seems like I always have a number of items in my buggy, and I just can't stand going before them.

Usually people are surprised and quite nice and grateful (although that is not why I do it).

More than once at work, I've paid for some little kids' ice cream who didn't have enough money, or have applied a discount to someone's check when they don't quite have enough to cover the bill. I don't really consider those random acts, though. I hate people in general and while I have manners and try to be an amiable and pleasant person, I don't exactly go out of my way to help a stranger. The people in the area I live in are rude and judgmental and treat me like crap at my job, so I just don't have much positivity for humanity at the moment.

I'll pass a joint to strangers at shows, I guess that counts? Sometimes they look super offended though.
