Does anyone ever wake up from a dream; completely immobilized? It happens to me quite often, and when I can't move I can't wake up, and fade back into the dream.

A lot of people hate sleep paralysis, but to a lucid dreamer it can be useful. Lucid dreaming is when you know you're dreaming, and usually you can control what happens in the dream too. Go to dreamviews.com to learn how to do it. I've read a lot of people say that for both entertainment and spirituality it beats LSD. And the best part is it's free!

I've known it as sleep paralysis, it's a bit scary but you'll get out of it in a minute if that. Usually it happens to me when i wake from a dream, but my body lags behind a bit int he waking process. You know that feeling, when you're dreaming and you know you're dream -BAAAM! Haven't had an episode in years though.

Your brain paralyzes your body for you while you sleep to keep you from sleepwalking. Sometimes it just takes a couple of seconds to reorganize itself.

Wow, I had heard once that when this happens it's because you're astral traveling and haven't quite made it back yet!

i had an episode recently where i came back from a bad dream and was awake but still dreaming and i tried to get my wife to wake me up, she was inches away from me and i was "screaming" in my mind but barely moaning and thrashing around but only nudging- it was useless to fight it, but i eventually snapped out of it and really whacked her good! she was obviously pissed to be woke up so i said sorry and pretended nothing was amiss so she'd fall back asleep and forget it... but as i lie there my heart was blasting in my head and my teeth were clenched and i was just really really shook by it...
