does anyone else thinks these are shortcuts to enlightenment and awareness. Although it seems like these substances help the minds and help growth in the short term, it seems like its not good for the long run. i feel like i think, learn, and feel so much more when i drink, or smoke good stuff, but i also think that stuff destroys the mind what do you think?
Marijuana definitely has the potential to heighten awareness and perception. I wouldn't say that alcohol is incapable of it but far more often than not it dulls perception and awareness. Overuse of either will likely start to neutralize the benefits.
breadth of experience leads to wisdom and awareness. you're missing out on a lot of experience if you never try any mind altering substances. but you're also missing out on a lot of experience if they're all you do.
I know allot of people who drink when they smoke. Both drugs together can create a unique high. But personally IMO I find pot to be much more enlightening then alcohol. Drinking has never given me that happy buzz that it seems to for other people. But with the way some of my friends can act, it seems great for some people.
Alcohol is the perfect drug for this society. Wrecks, murders, divorces, beatings, and all manner of bad shit takes place on it and it all generates money for business. That's one reason it's legal. On the other hand, any substance that causes people to pause and reflect on themselves, their society, the world problems, etc, is frowned upon, and it's users are sometimes incarcerated for their unapproved behaviour. Control by those who have it do not want large numbers of people changing their consciousnesss toward individual growth because that growth enables people to value simple pleasures instead of the constant barrage of bullshit to which we are all subjected. "They" don't want you off giggling in the woods somewhere enjoying nature or having TOO much fun. Who'll buy their crap and man the zombie treadmills? Meth and other crap like that is a differant story
^^^Exactly. Which is why they will never legalize pot.... too many people might expand their minds, begin to reflect on whats meaningful in life, they stop working 60 hrs a week, they start sharing, stop buying junk and so forth... That would be terrible for the economy.
