Spirit They've Gone, Spirit They've Vanished has to be my favorite. Alvin Row on that album is a truly mind fucker. It's extremely experimental, while it also presents electronic and magical themes. As truely out there and weird it might seem to most, this album is unique, awkward, and brings back several childhood memories. Also I recommend Chocolate Girl, April and the Phantom, Someday I'll grow to be as tall as the giant. Next would be Here Comes The Indian. A strong, "native" Indian style LP featuring floor tom drums, chaotic guitar riffs, strange lyrics; all with an anarchic vibe to it. Recommend all the songs as they slowly go in and out of each other, as well as being high if you can. Really intesifies the singer's vocals and the background music overall. A wonderful experience. Merriwhether Post Pavilion would probably be third. Best known as their more "psychedelic" album, their latest entry includes a trippy optical illusion art cover and their music focuses more on electronic, house and psychedelic pop. As good as it really sounds, the group drifted away from the crazy, experimental side and haven't been all that exciting live. Still a well-made album that and is also a great "trip to" album. In The Flowers literally vibrates my body during 'those' trips, and Taste is also phenomenal. Feels is another album that revolves more on the mellow guitars, soft samples, jungle drums and lyrics reciting love, friendship, and childhood. Another great addition to the collection of stoner music, more for the "sit back and relax music." Turn Into Something, The Purple Bottle, Grass and Did You See The Words are highly recommended. Other albums include Sung Tongs, an all out experimental folk album great for listening to outdoors or if your out in the wilderness; this also applies to Campfire Songs; Strawberry Jam is also electronic(y) that also includes welcoming guitars and a well done to Geologist for the samples. Danse Manatee follows their debut album Spirit They've Gone, Spirit They've Vanished but with more electronic noise and fewer vocals. Not popular with the fans, but an experimental album one for the books. Fall Be Kind is also a great, kick-back and relax kind of music, bringing back their nature sound that was intended. Hollinndagin is a live album, that is not for all ears. The finest experimentational music has to offer, this is a rare treat from the wonder band. Prospect Hummer, featuring the very talented and beautiful Vashti Bunyan, is a delightful surprise from the group including beautiful folk music. Some of their other work includes People and Water Curses. Happy tripping and happy listening friend...
