My girlfriend was over tonight, and we were just laying in bed, she was watching tv and i was just looking out the window.. when suddenly the entire sky lit up this bright blue/green turquoise colour, so i quickly sat up and was like "did you see that?!" and she was freaked out and confused as to what i was talking about.. so i was pointing out the window and was like "the entire sky just lit up this weird colour?!"

It's a perfect clear night.. not raining, not even cloudy.. there has been no thunder or lightening whatsoever, so it wasn't that.. nor was it fireworks because there was no sound and literally the entire sky lit up..

So we're both just stairing out the window, when suddenly it happens again! probably 15-20 seconds later... So she saw it as well that time and freaked out!

Suddenly my mom knocks on my door and was like "did you guys see that?!" and we all talked about how we saw it, and apparently when the sky lit up all of the lights in the house dimmed! (we didnt notice in my room because all of the lights were off except for the TV, which stayed comptely normal.."

So then my girlfriend texts her brother asking if he saw anything at home, and he mentioned that the lights went out for a few seconds before we even said it happened here!

Long story short... my girlfriends home now, and was just on facebook and twitter (yes, she uses those, *sigh i know lol) and apparently there are people talking about how their power is now out or how it went out for a bit.

I also heard many sirens shorlty after the flash..

Anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? Like, the entire sky literally lit up this insanely bright turquoise colour.. it lit up all of the apartments and everything.. But nobody else ive talked to has seen or even mentioned the lights, im hoping others saw it

My Guess Is It Was A Traffic Accident, Car Hits Power Pole,

Wires Cross And Arc, Circuit Breakers Drop Out For A Second, Then Reset,

Then If The Prob Continues They Drop Out Till It Is Fixed...:).

Check Tomorrows Paper For The Wreck Pic...:).

Dammit glen... I was so excited that it was aliens or solar flairs or something cool... You really know how to burst a bubble :p

I dunnoo... How did it light up the entire sky? People that don't even live in the same city as me (they're pretty much the same, except i live in a little down just inbetween these two cities) power went out?

And the only road that is seeable from my room is the freeway, whenever there's an accident there i can see and/or hear sirens for hours, could one of those little wooden power poles really cause all that? Because that;s all thats on that road, yet the entire sky lit up and made the apartments across from my house light up as if it were day?

This is me, trying to convince me, that something really cool happened :D

Sorry To Rain On Your Parade uterus, But My Second Guess Would Be

That An Electricity Sub-Station Blew Up, And The Short Interuption You

Had Was Whilst The Breakers Re-Routed You To A Different Feed Line.

The Peeps That Are Now In Darkness Were On A Feed Which Had No

    Second Option...:).

Now Cuddle Up To Your GF And Let Your Power Company Do All The

SAN FRANCISCO — A streaking fireball lit up California skies and stunned stargazers Wednesday night, and professional observers say more meteors are on the way.
The exploding streak was visible over the San Francisco Bay area and other parts of Northern California, and there were also reports of a loud boom.

clever glen, you may be smart but not that smart. pointing out there is shower activity.. http://www.amsmeteors.org/fireball2/public.php here are other events.

    http://www.amsmeteors.org/2012/10/meteor-activity-outlook-for-october-20-26-2012/

The Leonis Minorids (LMI) are active from October 16-27 with maximum activity occurring on October 23rd. This radiant is currently located at 10:36 (159) +37, which places it in northeast Leo Minor, four degrees northeast of the fourth magnitude star Beta Leonis Minoris . The radiant is best placed just before dawn when it lies highest in a dark sky. This shower is better situated for observers situated in the northern hemisphere where the radiant rises far higher into the sky before the start of morning twilight. At 60km/sec., the average Leonis Minorid is swift.

I'm not entirely sure it was a meteor or an explosion of some sort, because there was no sound whatsoever.. And i am unaware of any power stations around here that are that close.

When i got to work this morning everything was messed up... None of our tills were working, they're all touch screen and computerized.. None of the screens to show the food orders were working properly either, and all of our security cameras were completely messed up and erased, we had to restore everyything..

Plus everyone was late to work because their alarms got messed up too apparently.

I asked everyone if they saw what happened last night... nobody knew what i was talking about lol.. As far as i know only me my girlfriend and mom saw it so far..

The only reason that i dont believe it was a transformer or power station is because there is only 1 road i can see from my room, which is where i saw the light, out my bedroom window, and there are a buunch of trees right next to that road blocking the view from anything else, but behind that is just a bunch of subdevisions and houses..

and i walked to work and i saw no signs of any damaged street posts or broken power lines etc..

Psh, licences aren't required to drive during apocalyptic times..

Maybe these are the first signs of the world ending this December 21st?! I tried convincing everyone of that at work, saying we should all quit right now :D
