Well, I have a recently sparked interest in stimulants and the most I'd ever done is ritalin. I first heard of benzedrine from the Allen Ginsberg poem "Howl" -- So being a fan of Ginsberg and drugs in general I wanted to try some, however I couldn't get any. It was my idea that it just wasn't around anymore. Until I found looking online a pack of inhalers called Benzedrex which is apparently what he was rapping on about. What you do is you take the cotton out of the inhaler and swallow it. I've heard from people who've tried that have positive things to say. So I ordered 6 of them online. Now, I finally fucking can see what this shit is about. I bought 6 just in case I enjoy it, if not I'll give em to a friend. Whatcha think?
I think that you'll be let down. Back in the day you could just go into a store and buy speed or barbiturates ("goofballs") but those days are long over. I'd imagine that stuff was probably taken off the market pretty soon after large quantities of people started using drugs recreationally in the 60's. Benzedrex still exists, but the active ingredient is now propylhexedrine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propylhexedrine No doubt you can experience stimulation off the stuff, but you won't catch the same euphoria that Ginsberg was writing about. If you don't have a connect for stuff like meth, adderall, dexedrine or ritalin (which is not an amphetamine, but rather closer to cocaine) there are some good stimulant RCs out there. I've heard 4-FA is supposed to be good.
Propylhexidrine is actually a pretty nice stim. That cotton is god awful though and the lavender and menthol makes it so hard to get down. If you manage though its really nice and euphoric.
