This got me thinking about how I sometimes see people at work with their phones lying around somewhere while its being charged up. Someone could walk by and pick up the phone and go through it looking for info and then steal it to sell.

At my last job everyone left their phones in the same place to charge, and there weren't any cameras there to look over if it got stolen.

Yeah, I have a simple life, no cell. Don't want one either. I like being out of touch when I'm out.

I like being out of touch when I'm out too. I do have a cell, but I refuse to pay for crappy service that all the carriers provide. I turned my cell into a wi-fi phone and got a free number. That way I have a cell, can make calls when I'm home, able to check any voicemails left when I was gone, and it's all free. Completely legal too.

Or just get the cheap kinds that fewer people will want to steal. After seeing that video I see even less of a reason to get an expensive phone like an iphone.

Don't iphones and other more expensive phones have GPS tracking to locate them if they are stolen? How are thieves dealing with this feature?

Yeah, I get the el cheapo models.. I really don't need to be able to do all my banking, buy crap, get movie tickets, or anything else while I'm on a bus, or heading to work.

So, why even have a smart phone? Oh... You'll see... In the future, they will just "tattoo" the phones onto you using "smart ink" which will really be nanobots, and then noone will steal your phone, but you will also never be able to say "I left my phone at home", or "I changed my number"... :afro:

Im writing this on my cell phone at the airport. I can understand someone not wanting to be connected but I have a powerful computer that will be in my pocket in a couple minutes. If yall are so against computers how did you post your comment.

iphone is the premier conformity device for tools and zombies. Anyone who 'NEEDS' one of these 'smart' phones is a slave corporate fascist agendas.

they leave them off and remove the sim-card. the sim-card is a major weakness.

i don't like phones either. i mainly sms once every couple of weeks. and it's handy when i need to respond fast. although it feels more like a way for anyone to harass me anytime they want at the push of a button.

i have a cheap phone and went pre-paid. only spend about 10 bucks a year. the phone does more than i need. i would completely get rid of it if i could. that's also why i never put my number on resume's/CV's

I just got my first computer this summer, before that i cyber cafed. I was so excited to get it and have internet at home, but now that i have all this technology I'm beginning to think it's invading my life too much, esp. since I discovered this forum....totally addicted and worried. I might have to give this up as well. But probably won't!
