English is my native language, but I can also speak basic conversational Mandarin Chinese and I just started learning Korean. Kind of interested in what languages people here speak, and tips you have picked up for learning a second or third language. My top tips are to be really strict about practicing every day, and to try and live for a while in the country of the language you are learning. Nothing makes you pick it up faster. :2thumbsup:
english is my main language. and i speak some german and spanish. i learned german from my moms side of the family and i learned some spanish cuz i took two years of it in high school and i live in southern california which is heavily populated with latinos so i hear it a lot.
My friend's mum is from Poland and she is fully fluent in Polish, English and German and not so fluent in Russian. It makes me wish I had gone to school in Poland. :2thumbsup:
Russian, Sakha, and English. I also can speak basic German, I would like to learn this language next year. ))
You are so lovely, thank you! I have Russian textbooks and CDs, since I can't really afford paying a course at the moment, unfortunately. So I might just ask you something once I get started. I don't know just how similar Russian and Croatian are, but I guess it shouldn't be that difficult.
Thank you for kind words! )) I think Russian and Croatian language are very different. Good luck, remember also to contact me if you do need help!
I was born with English, but I took Spanish in high school. Which is not to say that I speak it fluently, but I can read it a fair bit. I've been thinking about getting back into it, but Rosetta Stone is pretty pricey, and I've been out of school for some time now... I'd love to learn German and/or Italian someday.
English. I can speak Spanish well, conversationally, but I'll still often get lost and usually just agree by that point. I can speak Khmer a little bit, enough to ask a few basic questions, how much, where is it, etc...
English I used to be fluent in Dutch, I can understand and speak a little still but with no practice in recent years its sort of gone to shit Maybe Ill take It in school next year? idk I wish i had actually paid attention in French in HS but alas....
