ive been tagging for over a year now, its great fun. when i find a hummer ill stick like 10 of em on it. tagging is great, you should all do it, or you can do what my brother does, he shits on the hoods of hummers, but you probably wanna stick to the stickers
Hummers are ridiculous. They are just a status symbol. I don't drive anything. I dislike being in an automobile really.
A Hummer is a vehicle that was used in the war. To use it in a city is like using a machine gun instead of a hole puncher. I'm getting me some of those stickers!
I'm sorry, I have to speak out. I believe what you all are doing is totally wrong & hypocritical. If you want to make a stand, make a stand by living by example. You do not, no matter how you try to rationalize it, have the right to do this to anyone other than your own car. Think about it, not everyone is selfish for using such vehicles, some drive their SUV's only when necessary and when it is convenient(car-pooling for example). You could be tagging someone who is just as environmentally saavy as you are but has no other choice. I disagree with large gas-guzzling cars as well, but all you're doing is creating negative energy by angering them and venting. You set yourself on their level when you do this, despite your intentions. I can't and wont try to stop you, I can only point out what I believe to be the error in your ways. The choice is yours, but make sure you are being honest with yourself, above all.
Not true, about half of the carbon emmissions come from cars. Theres a lot of fucking cars out there, ya know? I agree though, this is pointless, even if it is kind of funny.
i think it's the fact that we have WAAAY too many drivers so yeah.. it adds up. im kinda glad i tottalled my car and cant drive right now. not saying i wouldnt if i had one. my point is... a person is different then a COMPANY.
No, I assure you that no one who is "environmentally savvy" would ever drive/own or probably even ride in a Hummer. C'mon. There are plenty of other choices, stop trying to justify the dispicable use of this vehicle.
Well, I looked around, but I was getting tired of not finding what I wanted, I got so many non-relevant pages, so here's some info. It's from 1997, the second seems to be from 1995, but it will give you an idea, as I doubt the percentages have changed much. I was wrong though, it seems cars are the source about a third of the emmissions. http://www.eia.doe.gov/oiaf/1605/gg98rpt/carbon.html http://www.me.gatech.edu/energy/slides/GHGTprs5/sld006.htm By the way, there ARE millions of cars in the USA, 204 million, actually (as of 2003): http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2001/MarinaStasenko.shtml Just wondering, where did you get your numbers, like that an industrial plant can produce a million pounds of carbon a day?
I agree, Hummers are the scapegoat. But it is a sign of the mentality, of the total ignorance, or worse, total disregard, for what this kind of living does to the earth. It's the selfishness of it all, the blatantness of it. It's also very visible and thus irritating. By the way, although no vehicle is pollution FREE, many environmentalists have done their best: they ride bikes. Cheap, low maintenance (easy for self repair too), and extremely low pollution (aside from manufacturing them, a little oil and you're good to go). Not nearly enough of us have done this (I'm in the process of selling my truck) but you can't say that none have.
Ok, so I quit driving all together 2 years ago. So I guess it would be OK for me to tag pretty much any kind of vehicle that runs on gas, or even electric since it takes fuel to power the machines that produce electricty? I'll remember that if I ever see you on your vespa.
I live in a tent. No shit. I'm using the computers at the comp lab at school. and before you get on my case about this computer using electricity--these computers are on 17 hours a day whether anybody's using them or not. Thanks for playing, please try again.
Well, even if the car runs on N2, it still needs lubrication for the parts (oil), tires (rubber), an interior, probably plastic (oil). Plus, manufacturing the thing will need energy, lots of heat to melt the metals, thus, pollution. Fire's gotta burn something. Not saying it's a bad idea, just that nothing is pollution free. As far as bikes...well, a poncho for the rain, and I work 2 blocks from where I live (so I walk anyways). For you, I'd suggest finding a job closer to your home. We've become accoustomed to living far away from where we work, which is a key problem (suburbia/sprawl). Vehicles are not always a necessity, it's just a luxury for most people who are too lazy to ride a bike. My parents today drove to church...two blocks away! It was sunny and nice (nice as 26 degrees can be, anyways). That is a problem.
Ok The rules of this game, as I understand it, were "If you're having even less of an impact on the enviroment than I am, be a self righteious bitch about it" Not "Lets see who can be the most snivelling sarcastic little bitch for no explicable reason". Please try to keep up. Never said I was an "enviromentalist." Please learn to distinquish between what ppl post and what the voices in your head tell you. anyway, on top of everything else I've said I buy everything used except my food, hence manufacturing is not an issue. And I'm not doing all this because I'm trying to be "more enviromenatlly conciouse than thou", It's just the way I live. Ok so what about you? Or is asking that breaking the rules? Anyway why the hostility? Aside from the fact that your life probably sucks and you have a tendancy to take it out on random ppl, I mean.
