Going Barefoot

  1. A. It feels really good.
    B. Because it's intense, it often stirs sexual feelings.
    C. Because it's intense, people feel "exposed" and self-aware. They look to others to tell them, "Hey, it's OK!"
    D. It's unusual, so men and women look/stare at others who do it.
    E. In most societies, it's a different way of attire---many people don't tolerate difference. Others do.
    F. Most people have two functioning feet with extremely sensitive soles (natural evolution). That's why most people know about (A).
Gee, no wonder going barefoot is such a fucking pain in the ass.

C.&D. make it difficult for me. I don't like to draw attention to myself for any reason. As great as it feels and as much as I want to do it, I find I can't enjoy barefooting in suburban areas (stores, etc) because I get stressed out that people are noticing.

I had planned to go barefoot while running some quick errands tonight, but I couldn't go through with it. I just sat in my car in the parking lot trying to build up courage, but ended up putting on flip flops. Lame, I know. I really need a barefoot buddy to go with me so I don't feel like any attention is focused solely (ha!) on me.

  3. C and D are REALLY powerful. We are are SO prone to think of "others" as MORE valid than ourselves. Sometimes the only way to do it is to do it, and GET OVER IT. But that can take a really long time. On the upside, you get to practice going barefoot; on the downside, people notice that you're...barefoot. Private message me if you want... :)
