Mitt says the burden of disasters should be put on the states where they happen. I wonder how many cons in the north east are begging for FEMA help right now. If Romney wins, there will be millions of Katrina like victims, and cities that will never be rebuilt.

FEMA has been going through an overhaul for the last 6-7 years... beginning shortly after Katrina. All they do in times of trouble seems to be taking names and addresses and then force those people to pay extra for disaster insurance. Obama didn't start this overhaul, and if Romney wants to get rid of FEMA won't matter very much as it's a non-functioning department to begin with.

Just the facts man, don't shoot...

Fact is, FEMA is sheltering hundreds of thousands in Jersey, New York, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia that were flooded out, burned out, and homes destroyed by Sandy, and feeding them, and providing clothes.

Who's next? Hurricane Sandy in the north east, the big drought this past summer in the mid west, The earthquake and tsunami in Japan, the earthquake in Christ Church, the earthquake in Hatti, the earthquake and tsunami in the south Pacific that killed a quarter million, hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, plus all the other quakes in central and south America and Greece and Italy and Iran. Then there's the famine and epidemics in Africa, and the millions being killed by the recent wars. Super disasters are up a thousand percent in the last twelve years. Think it's no big deal, really?

Romney is an establishment choad, so he would never get rid of FEMA, even if he had the power to.

So him and the OP both are full of shit.

No, they have always been a shadowy government entity that serve a true purpose other than what most people believe. And yeah, they control all of the detention facilities (aka concentration camps) in this country and basically serve as an arm of the shadow government to take over once martial law is declared and people's rights (the ones they have remaining, that is) are suspended.

Very scary organization. They were long before Bush got into office.

FEMA should be gutted, because they have shown they are useless in disaster situations. Just look at Katrina. And you can go back even further than that, to Hurricane Andrew.

I love how they let people just make up names to add to their paperwork to get more money, from FEMA and Red Cross.

    Federal Employs Missing in Action
A richly deserved name earned during Katrina where the Rainbow team of truely 'First Responders' gave them lessons in responding. See posts from Wavejand.

Katrina was an example of what cons do to gut federal help for disaster relief. Sandy will exhibit what has happen since Obama brought back FEMA. FEMA only feeds and shelters disaster victims. There are other agenciies for rebuilding. Cons would destroy them also.

Being as I'm from New Orleans I hope to clear up some of this thinking.

Tyrsonswood has the right of it. FEMA did not help during Katrina. Katrina was exacerbated through lack of governmental help from either state or fed.

No FEMA? Wouldn't save lives in the short term. But it would injure recovery efforts in the long term. FEMA does provide assistance after an emergency. No FEMA at all and this country would be hurting ever worse as more natural disasters occur.

Fuck Romney. He's a total dope. Fuck FEMA those windbags. Sorry, just a flashback and forwardflash. I hate so much shit now. The feds don't help. The choice of president won't help either. I know that wasn't a rational response. Call it PTSD.
