His job, constitutionally, was to enforce the law. Taxation included.

*sigh... Uphold the law no matter what... You do realize that tax was a TEMPORARY measure instituted during the FIRST WORLD WAR to help raise funds for it..

Honestly, I would have no problem paying taxes if ALL the money truly went back to help the people... But the sad truth, is that maybe half of it does.. The other half goes back into the fat cat politico pockets

 

Really? Is that why article I allows taxation (prescient, those founding fathers), and that it was later augmented by a constitutional amendment, which we do for all manner of temporary things.

 

Why is it so many Americans swallow the Randian notion that all tax is a form of theft? This idea there's no such thing as society, only individuals, would if never overcome still see us up in the trees. Peculiar place the US.

 

Because America is all about being juvenile forever. Bills don't actually have to be paid, etc, etc.

 

If they were 100% transparent on where 100% of the taxes went, and it was for the benefit of the people, then many people (myself included) wouldn't bitch so much about taxes... THAT's the truth.

I for one always pay my bills on time (or even early)... The DIFFERENCE is I KNOW that the money I am paying goes to keep my water flowing, my electricity on and my internet connected.. With taxes WHERE does it go??

I mean, if I were 100% certain it was ALL going to the benefit of the country.. I WOULD pay them WITHOUT bitching about it. :afro:

 

the very type of person that would come to these forums is the kind of person that would be a bit on the left of the political spectrum, so it just stands to reason that people here would be less likely to knock obama. but that being said, if you dont think people knock obama here you have just missed a boatload of threads.

 

I was feeling trollsome at work a week ago so i wrote "Go Obama. 'Forward'" in the dust of one of the empty bookshelves and decided to check back the next week.

I was successful. Someone left a message saying "Yo fuck that #igger".

 

On TV, watching the tail end of the campaign toward election day, Obama is losing his voice. It has to be exhausting.

No. Its a big shelf. It was empty aside from what i wrote until at least a week later.
