My name is Stephanie. I am not sure if I am a hippie or not, compared to my Dad's era when he was in Vietnam as a Marine.
A lot of my friends call me hippie because of my style of dress, free-spirit, choices of music, and my past use of drugs (mostly mushrooms, LSD, marijuana). I must add I miss those days, but I am also glad to be alive today. I am 40 and in my twenties I was mostly in Baltimore and DC living the lifestyle of a raver, listening to electronic dance music and trance was my favorite. I lived to party to escape the stress of my parent's divorce. Living in a strict Southern Baptist home like I did, divorce was just not an option. So, when that day came, I freaked.

I did as many drugs as I could. I loved them all, but not X or Ketamine. Those K-holes were horrible. I feel I learned a lot about myself while under the influence of drugs. I traveled to many dimensions, and now I understand why drugs are used in many cultures. I feel a person must have a strong mindset to use these when experimenting. My problem was, before I grew up, I was out there just to get high. The higher, the better. I would not advise anyone to do this. I respect drugs now and I know there are spiritual sides to using drugs, although I am not using at the moment. A lot of drugs I have encountered were laced and would cause me to act very crazy. I was definitely not in control. With that being said, I will never forget the good times, the times I could almost feel colors or see music. The times I grew emotionally and faced my demons. The times where I felt love and peace, not to mention how food tasted so much better! LOL. :2thumbsup: No wonder I love to cook NOW.

On the other hand, I am very in tune to nature now. Some of my friends think I am crazy because I love taking pictures of mushrooms and polypores, I love nature to the point I feel at one with it. I could spend all day walking in the mountains of western NC. I live by the ocean on the east coast, so it takes me 5 hours to get there. I have the best of both worlds.

I stay at home a lot due to the fact that I do not like society these days. People are moving at a pace that is too fast to me, people are more greedy and shallow. There is no real love anymore. People are out to get what they want, no matter who they must hurt in the end. So I guess I don't have real friends. Just back stabbing associates. I still have hope and love. I teach my son to love, even though he experiences bullies at this school.

I have found I get along better with people like me-the free thinkers, the ones who question authority (since our government is screwed up in the head), and the free spirited. A lot of people say my head is in the clouds or in some bubble. Maybe it is, but I feel safe here. No TV, only sometimes to watch CNN (the drama of all drama and lies). I am at a cross-roads...I wonder why life has to be so complex and why we can not just help one another. This isnt how it was supposed to be.

So here I am, welcome me or not. I look forward to spending time on this site. I am looking for a hippie community to move to where people help one another grow in freedom and take responsibility for themselves. Lazy people rub me the wrong way. We must all be team players. :sunny: I shine brightly, and someways I can be ill as a snake-but I know what I believe in and people just like to press my buttons. Much love and peace to you all.

I am not even sure where to start...lol. I am considering leaving NC and moving out west. Times are changing, tides are turning, and quite frankly, I am tired of the US government taxing me to death and making me pay for insurance I hardly use. Why should I have to pay for someone else? I feel I am working my butt off for nothing. I am sure a lot of people feel this way. I am 40 and life was not supposed to be this way, was it???

First off ....welcome to HF :D

The hubby and I are located in eastern NC. I have lived here all my life and he is originally from Texas. We too are looking to move west for exactly the same reason as urself. Times are changing and the only thing left for anyone to do is look after their own ass. People today do not seem to have the compassion of earlier times. Anyways....Good luck in your ventures and again..welcome to HF :)

Thank you very much for the warm welcome...moving out west seems nice; I considered north, but I am not a fan of snow and ice. So Colorado or Texas could be the place, still unsure and doing some homework.:driving: I am not one to just up and move without researching and using my brain a bit. Then again, I have been known to take spur of the moment trips due to stress. The funny thing is, those have been some of the best times of my life. :daisy:Weird how that happens.:) I was protected the whole journey, I faced fears, and learned that the universe will take care of her own. I have that kind of faith I suppose.:indian_chief:
