Was wondering if any fellow barefooters know of any places that are barefoot friendly, stores, parks, businesses, communities, things like that. Any other ohio barefooters out there?
Ok, friendly as in ,"We welcome Barefooters"... ...or' we don't look at your feet when you want to buy somehting just your wallet...we don't give a shit
I'm a former Ohio barefooter, from the northern part of the state, ie: Akron and Cleveland areas. In my 37 years of living in the buckeye state, I rarely saw anyone barefoot outside of a swim park or their front yard. Generally it was about every 10 years on adverage when I saw another person barefoot out in public.
back in 2004 i went to a night club in Cinncinatti barefoot and did a few things over there but thats really the only city in OH i got to explore.
Come to New Zealand! No-one ever has commented negatively about my being in bare feet and I have never been thrown out of any place for not wearing shoes, and only rarely has being shirtless caused me any issues. Here, no shirt, no shoes no service would equal no business!
im seriously considering this option. and not just for the tolerance thing of course. things are getting eerily fucked-up around here
Byron Bay Australia. Never seen so many barefoot people! Supermarkets all over Oz seem to be fine with it.
The UK is pretty good if you can stand the weather! It's rare to get any problems being barefoot, although some people do look at you a bit strange in the winter
I did get a strange look today when I was at the bank but I am not surprised. It has been 20 degrees for the last few days so when I packed to go away for a few days I again left shirts and flip flops at home. So when I got to my destination and had to call at the bank my attire of a pair of Levis, a muddy bare foot and bare chested, the temperature of 7 degrees did get some comment...
I live in South Louisiana, and I almost never have any trouble. In general, locally owned places are more friendly than chains, places where you're outside are more friendly than inside. You ban run into a jerk anywhere, but I woul say that out of every 100 times I'm "inappropriately" barefoot, I get no reaction at all 97 times and a negative reaction twice.
Probably New Zealand. I spent a week there a couple of years ago and only had a shoe on my foot on a few occasions. I also encountered two fellow one-leggers also using crutches that were barefoot. I toured a Maori village on the North Island where many of the people I met were barefoot. I was something of a curiosity since they had not seen a Yank tourist crutching on one bare foot before. I felt right at home.
It hasn't changed and the further north in the country you go, the more bare feet you will see. I spent the best part of two weeks touring the top of the North Island and I didn't even take a flip flop with me. I spent the entire time cruthcing around barefoot and shirtless and the only comment I got was a barefoot girl in a supermarket who said she whished she could take her top off like I had! It is a bit colder in the South Island where I am and right now it is cold and raining but I am about to go out and I guarantee I won't be the only one in bare feet! Right now I am looking at my crutches, looking at my sides and contemplating if I do put a shirt on
I agree. I was barefoot the whole time while crutching in the northern parts of the North Island and in the Auckland vicnity. The Wellington area seemed a bit less tolerant as I recall and it was necessary to put on a flip flop now and then.
I have never felt the need for a flip flop in Wellington. I am in the South Island and the only time I might go for a flip flop is if there has been a really heavy frost in winter. I have just been to two malls and a post office barefoot and shirtless
