Let's look on the bright side, at least Romney didn't get elected and cut funding to PBS. Cause everyone knows Fox and CNN, simply don't offer enough government propaganda for the regular American. I personally need enough news stories to scare my governmental consent out of me, and enough beautiful people to make me feel ugly, so I buy things I don't need. That's what we all need to stimulate the economy.
Probably quite a bit different, initially would the Senate be seeking to raise the debt ceiling by $2.4 trillion immediately had Romney been elected? Probably businesses would immediately have become more open to hiring rather than laying off. The differences we will have to contend with and base decisions on will be quite different from what a Romney win, a Republican takeover of the Senate, or both would have produced.
Two of the biggest changes would have been the repeal of the national health care program before it ever got started, and the appointment of one or two Supreme Court justices with extreme right-wing philosophies. The court currently has five conservatives and four liberals, but not all five of the conservatives are equally fanatical. Those jobs are for life, so a further shift to the right would give liberals little hope for the future. Existing abortion rights would have almost surely been reduced to some degree.
I don't know what is scarier, liberal wackjobs like... nevermind, neocons, or fundamentalist Christian conservatives. Obama's health care program should be repealed (but it won't). It's fascist and tyrannical. I shouldn't have to be forced to buy healthcare if I don't want it. I am not caught up in the world of left vs. right politics like you and so many others. I just want the government to stay the fuck out of my life.
Ha! Nearly every time they even talked about the election, they were interviewing Obama spokesman!!! They are just as bad.. and some things about its founder "Ted Turner" may make you open your eyes a little bit.
To me, the Supreme Court is the longest lasting and most profound issue, followed closely by the Affordable Care Act. We must, as a nation, continue moving forward and not allow ourselves to regress based on a relatively small but loud group of radical conservatives.
I watched CNN and was fascinated that John King was, without offically calling it for Obama, presenting a solid case, county by county, that Obama would win by about 7:30 - 8:00 Eastern time. And, I had the pleasure of seeing Carl Rove make an ass of himself on Fox. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy!
I shoulda bet $10K on it.... :/ Oh well, 20/20 hind-sight.... Anyway, no use crying over spilled milk, what's done is done... Let us hope that it doesn't get too bad.... :afro:
"The world is flat and you'll fall off the edge if you sail too far". The constant cry of conservatives throughout the ages. If it were'nt for progressive forces,it would still be flat, the sun would orbit the earth and dissenters from conservative policies would still be seriously harmed.(oh wait--JFK,RFK,MLK conservative solutions were recent) Progression from harmful and inaccurate beliefs should be the natural order of humanity and the benefits therefrom derived. Science, empathetic behaviour and constant progression should replace war, inequity and avarice. Seems we ,as a species are not that differant from lemmings. Inevitable demise? Therefore ,it's better that Obama has been elected and I hope he pushes for a REAL progressive agenda.
What did two people find wrong with that post? Romney openly said he was going to do both those things, and his core supporters were happy about it. This is not a controversial point. The current balance of power on the Supreme Court is also widely understood. I didn't call any of it good or bad.
I've often said that conservatives believe the world is flat, because that is the only way that unlimited growth could work.
Then we just get Mr Rockafeller and tell him we want his trillions to pay it off and the rest of the world tells Mr Rothchilds to pay all the rest with his trillions and we start over.. http://rense.com/general79/tril.htm
Or people mad at the government running their lives, who love freedom and just want to be left the fuck alone.
I can't speak for him. But I think the "Majority" needs to take everything with a grain of salt, and understand that (some people) like me, would opt entirely out of government, if it were possible. I would exchange my alleged "Citizen Benefits" for freedom from the system, any day!!! What is good about government? Police and firemen. What is the ROLE of Federal Government in our lives? To protect life, Liberty and, property and NOTHING else...
