Why did my high not come the second time with HBWS?

Okay so I have HBW seeds, hawaiin strain. The first time I too then I took 5, and had nausea not too bad, so I didn't puke until I hour after consuming the seeds. I also spent a lot of time removing the husk from these seeds. I also had breakfast that mornih and It still was an amazing high. Overall it was torally worth the nausea and one of the best highs over ever had.
Anyways I had my boyfriend over to try some and we both had 5 seeds each, but we didn't spend as much time removing the husk as I did last time. It was also the hawaiin strain and from the same person/bag I got. I didn't eat breakfast this time though. Anyways, shortly after we consume the seeds I felt extremely sick, after 20 minutes I couldn't take it I puked. I puked around 3 different times, all self-induced. After a few hours I was okay but then I realized the high was hardly noticeable. I felt very guilty because my bf didn't feel much either and he puked a lot too.
Was all of this only because I didnt spend as much time removin the husk as last time? I am very confused and I feel extremely guilty I made my bf sick!
Any idea why this happened??

I didn't eat before I tried HBWR seeds and I tripped good with no nausea (I had ginger beer to combat nausea ) so I would guess that they don't break down as well with the husk on, I've heard others mention to chew them, I took pliers to them and then smashed them.

My only other thought would be I've read If you leave them out in light and if you have them for awhile and don't keep them cool supposedly the LSA can degrade rather quickly .
