whether or not it is, the welfare state is important enough as an institution to vastly outweigh the risk of its being abused by a few individuals.

It makes me angry that people who do not need SSI and stuff like this dude can go out & get it no problem. Then someone like my husband who has become disabled can not get it, so he can no longer work & sits in pain everyday. It makes me sick the people that scam & are perfectly capable of working.

How about the billions in wall street/bank bailouts and the 2.3 trillion for the military industrial complex that has not been and never will be found.

Your husband should have had that money rather than the war mongers and wall street crooks.

I know. For most people it takes years of court cases, buerocratic bullshit and then lawyers take half the settlement if you finally convince a judge you are disabled and cant work and are destitute.

Well guys my case manager approved me for independent living instead of semi-independent living just yesturday. With these SSI benefits I get to get into an apartment by myself for low income people.

This calls for a toast. A toast to SSI!!

We'd see people begging on the streets like third world countries. We would have to open state l hospitals / homes again to warehouse millions on SSI for disabilities.

 

War John does have a point. The govt. wants EVERYONE to work. The last 50 years we've seen two parent housholds where both work. Thats more tax money. More economic growth when both parents work. More cars for the workers to drive, gas, registration, insurance, daycare economy, more money spent in the marketplace.
It takes two service jobs now to equal one union job. Both parents have to work. Strangers and the state raise our kids while all adults are expected and need to work to pay the bills.
There is a conspiracy to get everyone to work to pay into the machine.
