thanks its been a long time coming.. for my life.. i finally have a place to call home here's some more oh i also built the loghouse in june and july and the wellhouse last febuary all together they cost 10k approximately as the barn cost 6k and mostly for the concrete basement and hauling in the dirt and shale ramp
I definitely like your style. It's not the same as mine but I can appreciate it! You must be a very intelligent man and good with your hands! Something a lot of people can't do these days. Luckily, my husband is learning carpentry from my dad. He would be lost without him. My dad raised me to live off the land (to an extent) and work with my hands. I'm a girl so I don't do a whole lot, but I do know how!!!
well i am a trans womyn with no testosterone for over 15 yrs / post op so i am almost in the same boat as you. here is one of me when i finally realized i was sick of men chasing me and i cut my hair 2 yrs ago
Ok, so that was a little sexist against myself. Maybe I should have said personally I don't like to get too dirty! And, I would love to hear some of your thoughts on transism. (I'll PM you.)
I never thougth you were a woman. I pictured you as a bib overalls, bearded hippy on a register to vote mission. LOL Did you build that barn yourself. The concrete forming on the lower level is a great idea.
No i had some amish build the concrete walls and another amish man helped me to frame it out, but i have poured my own walls before and have built other buildings just as large by myself in the past. I designed it too.. It turned out fairly well for designing as i built it. I had the same amish man help me stucco the loghouse but i cut the logs and placed them and i had the same amish man do half the stone as i did the other half. i framed that room with another helper. Its not hard really its just heavy stuff. I had to have a backhoe move some of the beams in place.. i wanted a root cellar and bomb shelter so yes that room was my idea as well as the lookout for the horses in 2008 i drove that horse and buggy 150 miles across pennsylvania .. that was tough and took over a week.. i had to tie the horse to the bumper each night and sleep in it .. "my horse Buddy went buggy for obama"
I am getting closer to being done now too yeaaa The back of the barn will soon be covered again with verticle siding. The horizontal siding is there to hold the beam together and make for thick walls in case a horse or person bumps into them. The balcony at the top will allow me to exit to a cable that has a zipline to be able to zipline over to another tree down by my trout stream. That should be fun to glide down a cable to a tree stand i will build.
I have also been cleaning my creek of invasive species to make it flow free and clean and not get stopped up with weeds etc.
Do you plan on treating the exterier? Preservative or something? It looks good now but the weather might make it get wood rot and turn gray.
No i want it to turn grey and look old. My house is wood and was built in 1820 and never painted and the wood breathes and last longer. The rood does overhang so it keeps it from getting too wet. The rear will soon get verticle siding so it will not just be those boards you see now. I am using old wood from a old barn i dismantled.
