If the justice system is so awful now, why are people and industries there in the first place? Why don't they leave now? The federal government doesn't offer any protection from State courts.. they merely impose additional rules and regulations ON TOP OF state law...

If anything, being a part of the US makes Texas MORE of a target, and provides LESS of a sense of security. All of our foreign entanglements and heavy handed interventions have made us quite a few enemies. All those middle eastern extremists are burning American flags, not Canadian Flags, not Mexican Flags, and certainly not Texas Flags...

Just go check out the Texas Nationalist Movement facebook page, you'll see tons and tons of Serbs praising and offering support for the movement.

Lets get some perspective here: Texas has a debt of $1,500 per capita. The National debt is around $50,000 per capita, which is more frightening to you?

Leaving the Union would make every Texas citizen $50,000 richer.

Mexico is a very poor and inept country. Their military can't even control the drug cartels inside it's own border, what makes you think they could invade and occupy Texas? Which has a much larger GDP then Mexico. If Mexico was looking to gain more territory, why wouldn't they just invade Belize, or Guatemala? Which are poor, defenseless, and directly to their south...

It's a misconception that countries are just itching to invade weaker neighbors and expand their territory....Not exactly how the world works...
If that were true tiny countries with little to no military, like Switzerland or Madagascar, would be long gone. Fact is, an independent Texas would be more formidable then 90% of other countries on the planet.

Nearly every able bodied young man is conscripted. When they finish their service they are expected to keep their weapon at home and be ready to defend the country at a moments notice. Virtually every able bodied man in the country is armed.

The entire country can be isolated from ground forces within hours. Their bridges roads and tunnels are wired to be demolished, they have the high ground advantage from all sides, their air force is hidden inside hangars built into the Alps.

No one would mess with Switzerland because 1, they're fiercely neutral and 2, they'd put up one hell of a defense.

I'm not so sure Texas would be formidable on their own, but certainly could defend against Mexico.

Well! I stand corrected... Switzerland was apparently a very bad example. I just threw out two countries who I figured to have small militaries. My point does still stand though. There are many small countries without standing armies or no armies at all that are not at imminent risk of being invaded.

I agree. The only other country that spends near as much as America for Military, is China. And they STILL only spend 1/7th of what we do!

What if someone has views that sway right (IE the Right to bear Arms,) but doesn't share republicans views with gay marriage, the wars, the war on drugs etc.

Would you want to force those free thinking individuals out, because they're not liberal, as the 98% is??
