Well, it looks like there won't be a season this year, and maybe next. Although a hockey fan, I've found life without the NHL to be quite fine and really couldn't care less if the league folds. Life goes on.

If this lasts, everyone is going to get used to there being no hockey...and when they finally settle no one will care two shits whether or not there's an NHL.

It's a revenue starved sport - that is the problem. the league should have never expanded to all the cities that it did. if you concentrated the good players in fewer cities, the attendance at those games would increase.

the proposal now is that the players will take a 24% pay cut, but what is truly needed is for there to be 24% less teams and perhaps even 24% less games to make the regular season games more meaningful with a higher ratio of good players on the ice.

Screw the NHL. Screw the players, screw the owners, screw 'em all because the ones REALLY taking it in the ass are the fans. I for one have gone elsewhere for my hockey. Minor League Hockey is more fun anyway. You can afford the tickets, the beer and munchies are cheaper and there are a lot more fights! Go Norfolk Admirals!
