Last night, I had a few dreams that were pretty long and vivid. One particular dream I had caught my mind. So I was in the backyard of my grandmother's house and saw a girl I knew from Facebook. I've never met her in person. Anyway, I asked her for a cigarette and apologized for having to ask her. She reassured me and graciously gave me one. I thanked her and then she gave me three more to be nice. I thanked her some more. In my lifetime, I've smoked no more than ten cigarettes. I do enjoy smoking them however. I've also had numerous dreams where I'm smoking cigarettes or joints. I do have a history of being a pothead at different times of my life. I do not smoke weed now though. Also, I am sexually attracted to the girl and her posts stand out to me on Facebook. Most of the time, they're ego-driven or they actually ironically relate to the way I feel. Again, I've never actually met the girl. After the girl gave me the cigarettes, we lied down together on a chair or something like that. I can't remember. Anyway, we started talking and smoking. It was basically like a date. However, she didn't seem to like me the way I thought she did. I would attempt to make physical contact and she'd move away or something. Now that I think about, it was like viewing something you really want in a glass case, and realizing you couldn't get to it. All in all, it was kind of disappointing. I don't really believe in believing what other people tell you your dreams are about, because you, along with every other human being, are so singular, and therefore it's impossible to be able to decipher the meanings of one's dreams. I would just like to know everybody's thoughts because something may resonate with me. Thanks!
I think that the important thing here is that the dream reflects/ has reinforced how you feel about this girl you may want to try contacting this girl maybe even tell her about the dream at some point? it may also be that you hold the key to opening the glass case
freud would have said that smoking (like eating/drinking to excess) is an oral fixation, arising as a result of unmet needs/desires. its pretty clear what the unmet need/desire is in the dream narrative the question is if this equates, in the real world, to this specific person, or if she is largely symbolic.
Hmmm. iz ze clazzic caze of zevere Repression. you need psychoanalysis my boy to make you well and have ze clear thinkings. ozzurwize you must stop ze dreamings. zey are makink you crazy!
i think its pretty obvious that you can't expect someone else to have in their mind the same as you have in yours. even in a dream. i think your subconscious is telling you this, whatever else. or something is, whatever that something might be, the way the universe you dream in works, or something. it doesn't really matter which. what does is that the point is there.
for me, the cigarette and the 'chair' are symbolic of a relaxing time together ... what else? for me looking as if at a 'glass case' is symbolic of disassociation. that is: your feelings are not engaged ... just your thinkings. this is probably why the dream ... is trying to engage your WHOLE self in the issue of partnership. the dream is saying relationship means more to you than you think! relationship is not merely an intellectual exercise. the dream is about paying attention to your feeling of LONELINESS!
Man, you guys are really introspective. Haha, the problem that I'm facing right now is essentially loneliness. Thanks for the replies!
Aric, the feeling of loneliness/isolation is a BIG feeling that causes us to do all sorts of strange behaviours. like we might hang around with odd/bad/sick/wierd people just so's we're NOT lonely ... only later to wonder how the fuck we got mixed up with people like these! happened to me!!!
The dream means that you have a secret desire to sever your left leg at the knee, replace it with a prosthesis made from whalebone, captain a small ship called the Pequod and spend your days in a maniacal pursuit of an albino sperm whale.
