Love that story about Christian. There is a longer documentary out there somewhere on youtube, I remember seeing it several years ago. Reminds me of Elsa from Born Free.
Longer version about Christian. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXJ_br_JBZI&feature=related"]A Lion Called Christian (Full Documentary) - YouTube

hi all... i just had to share this with you... i was walking tai yesterday (tai is my dog) and we heard a little persistent mewing coming from inside a parked vectra's engine... she was abandoned and later i found that my neighbour had been handed her brother, who sadly died not sure if he was hit by a car or mauled by a dog, but he didn't make it anyway... i don't know how long they'd been out in the cold, but when i fed her, expecting to have difficulties, as i didn't expect her to be weened yet, (she's so small- can't be more than 5 weeks), she woofed it down... i managed to get all the oil off her and warmed her up before she fed... then she drank water and fell asleep on me.. i fell asleep too.... it took me 5 hours to get her out... she was so scared... but she has perked right up and is a little tiger... even tho i already found a good home for her, i want to keep her, so she is now part of the family... i just decided to call her "vie" (pronounced "v") - "v" for vectra, "vie" for life tai is being very sweet with her... well he is probably more wary than anything atm as she has already gone for him twice... told you, she's a little tiger... ps sorry the image turned out so big... don't know how to resize
What a cute kitty lilla what's it with us hippies and cats!? I bring my newbie home wednesday! I'd take her to a vet for a check up, and find out how old she is so you know whether to get her some milk, its really important for them to have a source of milk at such a young age, I think around 8 weeks old is when they fully ween, but during those younger weeks it helps development etc. But yah, just like human babies
I've always thought between 6-8 weeks. By then most are eating kibble and drinking water. Missy, our mama cat still nurses Spot a kitten who's bigger than herself.....
Depends on the kitten I suppose, some are stronger than others naturally. Harry, at my shelter, is 6 weeks and still nurses but also eats food too.
All Missy's kittens will nurse on occasion as long as moma will let them. Spot is not only bigger than Moma Missy he's near a year old. Missy's a good moma, if one of the kits fails to come in in the evening she'll go round 'em up.
