Hello everyone. I am new to the forums, well first time posting anyway.. I am in Louisville Kentucky and hang out in the highlands area. Just posting to see if there is anyone else on here form this area. I am 55 years old and still believe in the Hippie way of life. I have a girlfriend and 2 cats and love life!!!!!
Welcome here. I'm an old hippie as well. Don't live there. Try to look for pot luck's or maybe a drum circle. Peace to you
As a matter of fact, I live in the highlands too By Keith's Hardware Welcome to the forums. I've never seen anyone else on the forums in Louisville......cool running into you
Now I'm north of Kokomo. About 3 hours away. I still visit my sister and brother a lot there. My family moved to Middletown / Hurstborne area back in the late 80's, then lived downtown on 4th street during college. Then Westport Rd by the Ford truck plant when I was intern. Lived near Crescent Hill/Highlands for a while w/girlfriend. Right by Kroger. Hung out Bardstown Rd alot. Is Jockomoes Pizza still there? I would go every Sunday night and watch the Merry Pranksters band play. Thats how I got turned on to the Dead. They played a lot of covers and I met many Deadheads. 'Touch of Grey' went big. Great memories! Whats near Keiths hardware? Sounds familier.
The Merry Pranksters are still playing.....they are a regular act at my favorite bar, the Hideaway Saloon. However they dropped the Merry and are now known simply as "The Pranksters." I've never heard of that pizza place tho....papalinos is now the pizza king in the highlands. I live right next to Cherokee Triangle at the edge Of Cherokee Park. Less than a blok away from where Hunter Thompson grew up
Thats a great place to live. Took many trips around that park and Crown Hill Cemetary. Met lots of friends around there. Wish I was still there. Thats so cool the Pranksters are still playing. They were really good back then, I bet they really rock now. Next time I visit my sis ( this Christmas or New Years) I will try to catch a show.
The Pranksters play every wed and some weekends at the hideaway saloon, which is pretty much the hippy headquarters in Louisville. They play all over town too but I'd recomend seeing them at the hideaway. I forgot to mention earlier, that my sister lives right by the Ford plant on Westport
Welcome to the forum. My aunt lives in Kentucky but I have never been to Kentucky. Hope you stay and enjoy.
