I don't consider anal play is gross but if you get a bit of poop all over your fingers & the smell stays there for several hours -so it can can be gross in some ways.

It does take a bit of effort to completely get rid of the smell afterwards with soap unless you wear rubber gloves during anal play.

 

When having Anal Sex, I find the faecal smell is far easier to get off my fingers than that of the condoms - although I wouldn't risk going without a condom with someone I didn't know.
