Fresno=number one in the nation. Bakersfield=number 2. My little home town,Lemoore is 32 miles south of Fresno and 65 miles north of Bakersfield. Yikes--I'm going down in a couple of days. Maybe I can hold my breath while I'm there.
Yeah, I hate traveling thru that area. It's a big farming region, and you know what they do to the soil before they plant it? They inject carbon monoxide and CO2 into the soil, with tons of it getting into the air. It's also a huge basin like LA where the air gets trapped for days.
I know ,Skip ,and that's not even counting the millions of pounds of herbecides and all other manner of poison stuff they put on various crops. Every year they defoliate cotton so that it will be easier to pick and many, many people dread that time of year and some get pretty sick. Thing is,I know a farmer that defoliates with salt water,so it could be done another way. The chemical industry there- rules. My problem is--I can make good money there, while these Oregonians won't pay for what I do.
I'm going to. Always worry this time of year about snow on Mt Ashland and Mount Shasta. I've been snowed in for several hors(that's too good to change!) going down thru the mountains. Flattens out at Redding, then it's just boring flat. Oh well.
Problem being, I pretty much only work on wood roofing these days. Home town and adjacent towns still have mostly cedar shakes, which is what I work on. Santa Fe had a lot of tile last time I was thru there. Plus ,my lady friend is in Lemoore. And I mean PLUS!!
Still roofing in your 70s......you are a freakin beast scratcho!! I know a lot of people my age who tried roofing and couldn't cut it.
I know--thanks,man. 73 and still hangin' in. And I don't have to buy those shirts with the "humps" in the front like old men have. Weigh just about what I did when I got out of high school.
Fine then watch out for dead condors and golden eagles falling from the sky from ozone toxicity and inversion Hotwater
Good news, according to this site Fresno-Madera is: #4 By Ozone Pollution #5 By Year Round Particle Pollution #2 By Short-Term Particle Pollution So things are looking up already!
I hated Fresno when I had to go down through there... Wasn't just the air quality, but that place just "feels" bad.
