I'm just down the Road from you and nothing legit comes to Mind.

    I've heard of/seen some wannabes.
be sure and do some in depth checking before you leap.

Best bet is prolly continuing your 'word of mouth' search.
I doubt a web search will return many hits except for the ruins up off Hwy 6.

Heads should've rolled over that power abuse and its coverup...

I'm going to edit this, actually. How about good communes ANYWHERE (besides The Farm in TN)? I'm 17, almost ready to move out, and I'm searching for open-minded, free-spirited, peace-loving people to relate to. Any suggestions at all? Anything will do... :)

PM me, write it here, or e-mail me at summeroflove1967@aol.com -- Hope to hear from anyone with the information. :)

No matter where you go young one, be sure to please check it out first hand with a friend. There are way too many crack pots in the world. There is a thread about oldwolf starting something in this forum too but in NY. Thus far he seems to put forth the most intelligent ideas! He desires it to be classed as non profit a wise decision in most any venture due to tax laws. A very simplified explaination of wanting to be non profit is you are allowed to make salary, accept donations, awesome tax shelter, you can hire, ect and avoid serious issues and taxes. Look at the churches, got money rolling and why? NON PROFIT!

Did you know red cross is non profit, but its upper exec's make over $300K a year? Pretty cool!

    Look for his thread...

is that "the family"? the ones that have sex with members children? we had some friends that left that cult because mostly of the child abuses(sexual), just wondering.

Kerrville is great, I have been going to the folk festival since I was 3-4 years old and now I work as a volunteer there. I dunno if they accept people into the commune on a regular basis really though, it is pretty full it seems. You should atleast check out the festival though, its an awesome time.

I just have to say it is always great to hear people aspiring to this new way of life with so much potencial, but if you are goin all in do your research first and make sure the people your doin it with are your types of folks and if the way the place is run is good by you. Yet doin a couple internship things is always a harmless way to find out.
