    £17.12 a week? Plus petrol?

No wonder my saver ticket costs so much. It all adds up.

Have you any idea why it's still so high after so long?

You mean women's insurance came in line with mens? :D - no, seriously - I'd heard about that...

Car insurance quotes for women are up 15 per cent, or £114 on average, ahead of new European 'gender neutral' rules which kick in next week.
A car insurance quote for women is now £862 on average - up from £748 six weeks ago, according to price comparison website Gocompare.com.
New rules, which come into force on December 21, mean that insurers will no longer be able to use gender when calculating how much a customer will get in retirement income, or how much they need to pay for their car and life insurance.

Any excuse to cream more cash - I am just in shock ... I paid 3 years ago £225 fully comp on a sherpa mini bus converted camper!

It does seem like organised crime, to be honest : / - it's one of the reasons I didn't peruse my licence.

its a good reason - although being off rd for awhile and borrowing friends vehicles was driving me nuts.

    Freedom costs!

It sure does. I'd hate to think how much I'd have to pay now.

You had a moped so it should be ok as long as it had insurance less than 2 years ago and you made no claims..

I hoped so. Shame it isn't running : / I meant a car. But that is unlikely, anyway.

Mine was approx £250 - perhaps because it was for a 50cc (or a glorified hairdryer as some critics may say :frown: )

Hear in AZ ( USA) I have a pollicy with geico on my service truck . http://www.geico.com/ Its about $50 a month for a min. lib. ( $10,000 or $20,000 max. property damage ) If you get caught driving with out insurance in AZ , there is a big fine . If you hit some one with out insurance there is a bigger problem . All tho many do take the risk , and there are many people in the USA illegal and cant get a drivers lic. or insurance . desert rat
p.s. I am 55 , and my last moving vol. was many years ago , witch gets one a cheeper rate .

If it makes you feel any better about the absurdity of UK insurance, I crashed my Vitara just before the insurance renewal.

When I got it, I went onto a multi-car policy. Had to choose which to assign my existing NCB to. So I put it on the MGF. So when i wrecked the Vitara, with no NCB to speak of, I reckoned they were going to punish me BIG time.

    Did they?

    Well, no, not exactly.

When I bought an SLK to replace it, they offered me introductory full PROTECTED NCB.

    I took it like a shot :D

Just had the insurance renewal through.

It's just under £1,000. That's for the SLK, the MGF, and my partner's car as well :)
