So, I rescued my beloved lab mix from a horrible place. I got him when he was a 6 week old puppy stuffed in a room with his brothers and sisters with filthy blankets that smelled of ammonia. The lady was nice but she obviously didn't know how to raise or take care of puppies properly. I do not blame her, most people these days do not know how to take care of puppies. I am not saying that everyone does this but most people get puppies because they think, oh they are so cute. I am going to adopt him/her and spoil him/her. A puppy is like taking care of a baby in certain ways. You have to wake up at odd hours to make sure your dog doesn't piss indoors and you have to constantly feed and make sure your baby is healthy. I was living on the streets when I had my dog. Occasionally sleeping at a friend's house, but only when it rained. I also live in a town where parvo is highly susceptible to be contracted, I know this because 2 of his brothers and sisters passed away from parvo. I took him in knowing that I had a job to do, and I took damn well care of him too, he became the biggest out of the whole litter. Anyways, I recently moved into a house that has another dog, a smaller dog. A dog that isn't trained at all. This dog has been taught it is okay to pee in the bathroom and chew on toilet paper. This dog basically had no training and was allowed to do whatever he wanted. Why? Well because his owners did NOT know how to take care of a puppy. Yes, my roommates got their dog when he was a little puppy. He is now 3 yrs old, and he constantly barks at my dog and at mere noises that my neighbors make. This dog has been taught he is the alpha. I recently was able to train this dog somewhat. I was able to teach him how to sit and shake. I would have progressed more, however if his owners weren't complete nutheads. I tell them constantly not to baby their dog, not to feed their dog at the dinner table and to take their dog out for walks. They absolutely refuse to listen to me and say their dog is more behaved than my dog because my dog has picked up some bad habits from their dog. I am not saying my dog is the perfect dog, he does have his faults, i.e he loves to pull on the leash, he can be a tad too excited and jump on people. Though, ever since I moved into their house, I have caught my dog chewing toilet paper, trying to beg for scraps at the dinner table and bark at mere noises that my neighbors make. This isn't what pisses me off though. What pisses me off is that my roommate continues to harass my dog. My dog will be sleeping in his chair and he will just go up to him and start messing with his face and his ears, my dog will greet him at the door or when he is sitting down on the sofa and he will grab his neck/collar and refuse to let him go even if my dog is struggling to get away. He will constantly yell at my dog for drinking all the water in the dog bowl and he will constantly yell at my dog for grooming my cat or for trying to play with his dog. I have constantly told him not to do that, yet he just laughs it off like some maniacal bitch. My other roommate will feed their dog at the dinner table and I have told him not to do that because it teaches the dog it is allowed to beg and eat off the table. Which my dog has been trying to do because he will see the other dog being fed. I have been told to fuck off and to shut up and mind my own business. My first roommate will also try to mess with my cat by petting him too hard or by picking him up wrong and holding him against his will. I have considered moving out but financially I can't. This has seriously been driving me crazy. I have been doing everything to try to stay sane and not just deck them in the face. I have this strict policy, mess with my dog and I will put a whole world of hurt on you. This is just inside the house too. Outside, I will have random stranger pretending to try to kick my dog or punch my dog. They don't realize it isn't my dog they should be worried about, it is me. I can't wait to get a better job and move into my own place. So, sorry about my ranting. If you have any problems similar to this, please feel free to leave a response. I would be surprised if any read this as a whole. I know I probably sound like a pretentious dick, but I honestly did try to do everything for my dog. I made sure he was healthy, had all his shots. The only thing my dog ever got was demodectic mange, which is prone to short haired breeds and an allergy reaction to an avocado pit my ex neighbor left out. Once again I am not saying my dog is perfect, I am just ranting. Please do research before you adopt a puppy, especially if you get a puppy online or whatever. Don't go to breeders first, go to a shelter. I know what you are probably thinking, I got my dog from a terrible breeder, I actually didn't. It was an old lady's misjudgement on her son's friends dog. Before you adopt make sure you are able to take care of a dog. Sure it may not seem like it would take much effort but it does take a whole lot of effort. Please vaccinate your dogs and please keep your dog and other dogs safe. It is your duty to make sure your dog is healthy. You don't have to spay or neuter your dog if keep a close eye on your dog. I have known plenty of people who have dogs that aren't spayed/neutered and have not had a single accidental litter. If you aren't always around your dog then it is your responsibility to make the decision to spay and neuter. Their are many risk factors to each side. Please don't reply with hateful messages saying that all dogs should be spayed or neutered. Do some research before talking down on someone.
I had a house guest who treated my smallest cat this way. That's part of the reason that person is no longer here. Fuck with my babies and you won't last around me.
I am sorry for your situation and hope you can move out of there soon. I would not be able to stand people messing with my animals either.
seriously...without even thinking hard, I can remember 2 EXs that became exed because of how one treated a cat of mine and how one treated a dog. They were lucky all I did was (not politely) tell them to get the hell out immediately and do NOT come back. Don't mess with my animals, or you are gonna have more to deal with than you ever thought about. And OP - not to give you any bad ideas (well, yes - to give you bad ideas)...I bet I'd be able to make their lives hell one way or the other, AND I'd express every opportunity I got the best thing they could do for themselves would be to fucking leave my dog alone.
Wow, I was actually surprised people read my rant...I think it is so stupid that people can't seem to comprehend animals are FRAGILE and so are we. You can't treat animals roughly at all. Thank you for the responses. I so WISH I could just deck them but considering I don't really want to be out on the streets, I have been holding in my anger. I love how they also say I don't know shit about animals. Quite funny really, when the only dog they have is a tiny mixed breed. Blah, about to start ranting again haha.
