I know what you mean, and I am not deaf, nor going deaf. I think there is an ulterior motive in some of the stores. I noticed it's being turned on louded the closer to closing time. I have noticed the effects it has on me and some others. I makes me feel antsy and makes me want to hurry up and shop and check out so i don't have to keep hearing the annoyingly loud music. And, it's not even good music they are playing loudly. oh no. it has to be crap. But, yeah...basically, I think the stores turn it up to get the people out of there faster. who wants to be blasted out with loud annoying music while trying to do some leisurely shopping. not me.
I have turned into such an old fart in the sense that I HATE loud music/background noise. I avoid most stores because their music is just outrageous
Yeah i have to yell at one of my elderly co-workers. I told him to wash the cum outta his ears. Yeh we joke like that. He was in vietnam, & im only 26 . So its Up there
I didn't think about card shops. Nice to having blaring music distracting you when you're trying to read the cards. Next there will be 110 dB music in the reading room at libraries to 'help people concentrate'. I have complained many times in shops I patronize."
yeah, a little more respect never hurt anyone. especially when it's directed towards others. hey, 26, ever been to viet nam? or know any who has?
i would assume the coworker he was talking to who was in vietnam is someone he knows who has been to vietnam. it could be argued that joking around with someone as if they were an actual person is actually showing more respect than tiptoeing around them under the assumption that because they're older they must be too stupid to have a sense of humor.
A couple of my friends say that they can't do school work when it's quiet. They need a loud distracting TV show or music in the background because it gives them something to concentrate against. I tend to prefer a quieter setting. But to each his own.
I spoke too soon about background music at reading rooms in libraries. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/5185201/Libraries-criticised-for-playing-music.html "Doraine Potts, a former Oxford University languages lecturer, is campaigning for the the scheme to be abolished. The 76-year-old, of Woodmancote, Cheltenham, said she visited her local library in nearby Bishops Cleeve, to discover that music by the Sugababes was blaring out over its PA system. She said "I was trying to choose a book in my local library but I just couldn't concentrate. That's how loud it was - the beat was just thumping away. "It was totally inappropriate for a library."
