I washed my hair daily, but at least, every third day or so, when I had locks.

Then, I didn't use shampoo for a year, after I cut my hair. I found it to be unnecessary with too little hair to get greasy or hold dandruff, and that I could just towel my hair and remove anything that hadent been melted out by the hot water. Had to start again after it got to a certain length, and started holding grime again, and tangling. Can't have any tangles, dreadlocks are for faggots :D

I just felt he needed to be roasted a bit, or else the message would not be clear enough that he is DEAD-WRONG about that sort've common assumption. Unfortunately that is one effective way the world communicates.

If being nice worked, well, I dunno, I feel like I'd be rolling in pussy.

We take it personally because to some people dreadlocks are a part of them, therefore dreadlocks are personal. They are attached to our heads. Whereas drugs and shit are a choice. I'm sure lots of people get riled up in the Drugs forum. But most of the time not possibly, because everyone is high. That, just there, is a misinformed judgement.

The issue has been resolved, we have informed one member of this large forum that dreadlocks are not unclean. We could either carry on to discuss particular washing regimes for dreadlocks to benefit anyone else visiting this thread, or we could continue to go round in circles flaming one another. If the latter happens I will close and lock this thead.

    Ta. ^^

It takes a few seconds to shave one's head. Drugs cannot be undone, especially those (the psychedelics) with the potential to usher in religious-type experiences and dramatically change one's personality, thoughts, or behavior.

....Just saying. I've done both, and they can both be quite important to how someone sees themselves.

This is the most active thing I've seen on the dreadlocks forum in a long time. That saddens me. :(

There used to be a lot of activity on this forum and a close knit group was formed. This + the fact that there's very little moderation in this forum as far as 'free speech' so people could be quite mean to new members resulted in a lot of new additions being scared off and going to a different forum. Slowly the old close-knit group dissipated and now there's not a lot here. A few years ago this was the place to come for impartial dreadlock information and community, now it isn't. A shame really.

    This.

Back when I joined, we didn't have stickied threads. People were encouraged to join the forum, start threads and ask questions. They were encouraged to join in the group and discussion and ask us about our dreads to help them. I personally got A LOT of help from this forum (mostly from SE, lol), and people actually wanted to talk about dreads and help a sister out.

In the past year or so, as soon as anyone joins, its all 'READTEHSTICKIES', and 'DONTASKQUESTIONSITSALLINTEHSTICKIES', and that puts a lot of people off. Big time.

Yes, in this case it was a troll, but dont go off one one and feed. Any new members, or even non members, can see and read this forum and that's what they're ganna see. They're ganna see some kids who can't take a joke, can't take the time to help somoneone, can't give them 5 damn minutes to ask a question and get an answer that may or may not help them.

This forum is dead because its members actively stop people asking questions and finding stuff out.

There was a clique and there were some bullies. The bullies got away with it because the people in the clique were friends with them. So new people didn't stay, they went off to one of the other 2 forums. It's not like that here now, so maybe overtime some people will come back, but a problem this forum will always suffer from is that the dreadlock posters often keep to just this section. I pretty much only post/read this subforum and I know there are others that do the same. They're not used to the big characters that inhabit other parts of the HF and so when those characters come into the dreadlock subforum their senses of humor don't always mix.

No. When the cliques ruled, there was absolutely NO impartiality. Anything less than neglect was booed and hissed at. Heaven help if you posted a picture and they weren't full of crazy natural loops and bumps. Long arguments over the 'evils' of backcombing. Do not want to go back to that.

Those who thought we could do better, wanted to create a sister site to get the information under control. This was frowned upon by TPTB and the great dread forum schizm of 2007/8(?) resulted in the creation of what some perceived as a competing website. Despite being taunted by Admin here for being a 'wanna be webmaster', the site is still going strong and IMO, the best dread site on the net.

About a year later, one of the players in the dread schism that ended up staying at hip, got upset because nobody was really backing up his ultra fascist Natural Neglect Dreads rants. He opened his own site and stopped yelling nonsense at us. His site is kind of a big joke to the rest of us, but it does get good traffic.

And then over the years after, the cliques started to die out...

And that is today's KnottyKnowHow/Dreadlocks forum history lesson.
There will be a quiz on Friday.

I must say I prefer the green+brown dreadlock forum over the black+grey dreadlock forum. I have trouble arguing against "I get my information from someone who's had dreadlocks longer than you've been alive"... even if that information is false.

awww...i remember it well...i had just joined hip and had no clue what forum manners were expected of me....to this day i have never read a faq on this site

so i am cruising the forums and innocently read a dread thread...dont remember the subject...stupid me asked if any of y''all had ever consulted a rastfarian with life long dreads regarding dread issues

holy shit did i ever get flamed.....cally4strings called me an ''epic douchebag''........i kept that moniker under my avatar for 3 years

but i learned my lesson....changed certain aspects of how i post and here i am today....

now....dont get me started on the goddamned barefooters:love:
