what do you find works the best for you? i feel kind of weird about using all sorts of chemicals in my body to keep from getting pregnant.
I was going to post the same thing. I was on depo as a teenager its bad. Really bad. For awhile I was on the pill. I didn't have any problems with the pill and like that my cramps arent as bad and my periods regular. The problem is I feel weird about taking all those hormones too. My boyfriend and I have been using condoms and they suck. I have been considering getting an IUD or a cervical cap, maybe a diaphram? Ne1 have any experiences with these that they would be willing to share? How about the rythym method, how difficult is it to actually do that? Thank you sisters.
well, I'm on depo now and it's been working out well for me, but a lot of women react very very badly to it, so I don't necessarily recommend it unless your doc does. I know there are natural methods (well, consuming herbs etc instead of chemicals) but I don't know of any off-hand.... I used to be on the pill but I would forget it all the time, and it would make me incredibly susceptible to yeast infections, which are so outrageously unpleasant. so, um, diaphragm sounds the best if you're looking for something non-chemical... IUD's can be scary if your doc isn't very knowledgeable about them.
I'm on Depo also. I really like it. I haven't had an actual period (occasional spot bleeding now and then) since 2002. I used to have horrible migraines every month that just took me out completely and I haven't had one since I started the shot. I don't get bad mood swings anymore, I've never gained weight even though that's a common side effect, and I always remember to get it. You have to take calcium supplements though. A new study found that it has a negative effect on your bones if your on it for a while. I used to be on the pill but it was hard to remember to take and sometimes I just wasn't awake at the same time every day so I swiched to something I didn't need to control.
not all iud's release hormones - the copper ones just stimulate hormone production. i guess i've never understood all the squeamishness about using hormonal birth control. i love mine. it works, it makes me feel better, my acne disappeared, my period is shorter, my cramps are lighter - and i'm supposed to NOT take it so that i fit into someone's definition of "natural?" no way! the pill all the way!
lol, oh I'm with you on that one. I can understand though. I was always opposed to putting things like that in my body before too...but some people just need it. I had HORRIFIC cramps...horrific. The kind that had me lying in a fetal position on the floor crying and dryheaving every morning my period would start, and for days afterwards. Horrific. The only thing that ever helped was my BC pills. I just got switched to seasonale recently too. I'll start taking that next week I have a couple of friends from another group who have IUDs. Apparently they're a real pain for some women, but for the ones they work well for, they love the things. And my friend's mom had a diaphram for her BC and she always loved it better than anything she used otherwise. You'll probably end up having to try a couple of things before you decide what suits you best of course. Good luck with it
My bf applies a special oil on his penis on a daily basis and I apply some in my vagina and works fine, no side effects, all natural, it helps. I won't say what its called cuz it's not officialy a birth control and lord knows who monitors this place. But what I can say is that it's of Asian-Indian origin. Best of luck.
I got to ask this "WHERE IN THE HELL WERE YOU ALL WHEN I HAD TO GO THRU THIS WITH MY DAUGHTER BY MYSELF AS A DAD!"
i've been on nuva ring for two weeks and so far it is great it releases a constant amount of hormones so so far no mood swings but i guess that might change it's awesome you just think about it once a month and it didn't sound as scary as an iud or depo
