I also enjoy the time off but there has to be a less stressful/expensive way. That's besides the point based on this Thread's topic.
my favorite holiday would be july 4th. no presents to buy, except for those all important beers, hot dogs and ice, all of which you get to enjoy yourself. if modern xmas was like old-tyme xmas, where it was just a huge party in the middle of winter, well, that would be different.
i thought this sounded really good: Among the Christian Japanese Christmas is not a day for the family. They do not have turkey or plum pudding, rather than that the day is spent doing nice things for others especially those who are sick in hospitals.
I'm pretty excited about Christmas. I can't wait till my boys open their gifts and have new toys to play with. That will keep them occupied for a lil' while. I do have heartburn though. If I could just burp.
That packaging is ridiculous. Packaging used to be so simple. Now you need a screwdriver, scissors, and if they really went overboard a chainsaw.
This year it's pretty much just something to get through. For the most part it means the colleges and libraries are going to be closed so I'll have to pay for internet.
you need an infomercial... "your donation of just 42 cents a day could keep this cool head pluged int to the net".....CALL SALLY STRUTHERS!!!!!!
I did that once as a kid, in a line up at the cash register, all over the lady behind us. My dad was holding me...he he he I hear ya, though the faces here look like their going to die any second. No smiles, just grimaces and frantic stressed out looks. Sol Natalis The birth of the sun, hope the rebirth of the sun at least is something good to ponder.
Days are getting longer? Doe's this mean we all have to get new watches? Cuz mine only has 24hrs on it. (I'm and idiot) Yeah, winters half over which is something to smile about.
Getting back to the original question, for awhile, I was so unexcited about Christmas. I'm not really excited about now, but I do feel a little better about it. I guess I'm unexcited about Christmas because the thing I want most is something I can't buy or none of my folks can buy.
A-fucking-men! Religion is a very bad thing, causes far more problems than it solves (does it really solve any?), and motivates people to do hateful, EVIL things that they mask as "goodness." And Christmas is a sick parody of whatever it was once supposed to be. The fact that it is used as a marketing gimmick for two full months before it happens, and the fact that it is used to trace the markets... how much more indication do you need that it is a perversion and a farce and an abomination? It's all about the money, honey. Kids don't even know what they're supposedly celebrating. And then there's the idea that it's not even really Christ's birthday. And don't get me started about how "God gave his only begotten son..." That's supposed to make me think God made this huge sacrifice?? GOD IS SUPPOSED TO BE ALL-POWERFUL. HE COULD WHIP-UP A THOUSAND NEW "SONS". What difference does it make to God? He could wipe out the universe and make another one tomorrow if he wanted to! And people actually believe this bullshit?! Boy, did I ever go into a rant, there! -Jeffrey
pj's just needing to get someone to let him suck their feet. i'm sure he can't afford to pay for it. as to xmas, not really a big fan. too muc money, too much junk. however, this year is going pretty good. each of the kids got a couple little gifts, are totally okay with it, and the rest of our time is being spent just hanging out. gina keeps making me shots, the weak girlie ones, thank goodness. and dave's mom is cooking us dinner out on the lesbian compound. i'm just happy knowing that place exists for women to get away from men. we've got to visit dave's dad, but it's expected. i guess the best part of xmas, though the biggest pain in the ass, is the trip to visit all the family who live far away. as for christ, i know that xmas is not his birthday, so people telling thei kids the santa thing is cool with me. i think christ'd be pretty embarassed by the behavior of a lot of people on this day anyway. so me? i'm getting a good food buzz, watching my baby play with her brother and cousins, and having a lovely day.
