I am surprised how few people he has viewing his vids, but he is very insightful. BTW Joe Rogan is a comedian; a commentator for UFC; the host of Fear Factor; and more importantly, he eats mushrooms. He's a good skeptical thinker. I enjoy his vids immensely. He also talks a lot about his mushroom experiences. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0ChD1r1GmU"]Joe Rogan on Mushrooms and Psychedelics - YouTube
I like the other guy's Salvia trip explanations. Finding his ego in the Xbox !!! I like Rogan's description of mushrooms and I was just talking about tripping on Marijuana the other day on here and many were skeptical. Glad I'm not the only one who has.
I suppose Joe is a good promoter for these types of things but he doesn't seem very scientific or intelligent necesarily. I would say Alan Watts and Terence Mckenna are better people about this subject. About the number of views, this doesn't suprise me just because you must remember, a lot of society doesn't do these things simply because they fear being caught by authority so that will push away a lot of the crowd that may otherwise like to do things like this. Alan Watts is my favorite but he is more about philosophy more so than psychedelic, although he is one of the most insightful people I have heard of from our time. He is also a great influence on my philosophy about life. Give him a try if you don't already know about him :].
Joe Rogan! I remember being in high school hearing this stuff, it acted as a pre-cursor to my love for psychedelics and their spiritual enhancement. I thought he was smart before and still holds intelligence, his podcast is funny and interesting. (The Joe Rogan Experience) what is even better is that DMT usually comes up a lot lol. He is definitely opening doors for the mainstream acceptance of psychedelics.
I believe I have. I agree, love the writings of Watts. Particularly this gem: http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/lsd/alchemy.htm
Sometimes he tends to present psychedelic speculation as fact but considering his career has been host of The Man Show, Fear Factor and UFC I find this psychonaut side of him intersting. He seems to absorb a lot of material from more prolific psychedelic writers and gives those ideas a more widespread platform as you mentioned, I definitely have respect him for that. I find this musing interesting from him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkEu3an11Pc"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkEu3an11Pc
Say what you will. Rogan and some of his guests led me here! I was stuck on the science channel and books by big names like stephen hawkings and michio kaku. Rogan and guests introduced me to people like mike talbot and docs like the spirit molecule. I felt very alone before I was brought into these topics and lifestyles. It's given me an entirely new space to explore when I thought I had found a boundary.
Joe Rogan has never had a original thought in his life.... He is just a mouth piece for the psychedelic revolution that spouts the ideas of other champions from a taller soap box. You really can't put him in the same category as Alan Watts or T. McKenna. He is entertaining and is a part of our ever growing group of like minded pschonauts.
He's very conservative for his apparent psychedelic views. He hates hippies and seems to dislike anything traditionally associated with counter culture.
I feel like he's kind of overrated, but he is a good introduction to the real stuff such as Graham Hancock and Alan Watts
Before I knew anything about Joe Rogan I heard him on a radio show....I want to say the Alex Jones show but i really have no idea why I was listening to that... but I found him interesting. He was talking about DMT and the hosts obviously found him insane, but they were intrigued at the same time. I was surprised to find out later that he's a UFC commentator
Mckenna and Watts are my heroes as well. Have you read this one? www.amazon.com/The-Joyous-Cosmology-Adventures-Consciousness/dp/0394702999 Alan Watts on LSD spilling the beans about it all
I never much cared for Joe Rogan, but lately I have been hearing a lot about him. I like what he says about the arguments of psychedelics. It's a point I've thought of myself, and probably exists from many other thinkers, but he mentions how society is so agaisnt these psychedelic drugs, and altered states of consciousnesses, but nobody ever thinks of sleep. For 8 hours a night we just disappear into another dimension like a trip and wake up not remembering what happened. How is this different from a psychedelic experience in terms of consciousness? I love hippies man, so GTFO! Haha, Jk, but I'll have to disagree with you on that one. I have certainly tripped balls on weed, I'm not sure if that's because I've used psychs before, but I've had at least 10+ "trips" on marijuana.
