Yeah I've thought a lot about that day. I made the blunder of starting really short and I'm just starting to get my first signs of increasing length now at 6 months. Maybe in a year or so I'll be getting somewhere.

I just take a lock or two from behind my ear on each side and just tie in the back. Like the first step of tying your shoes. Pull it kinda tight and it usually stays.

    Liike this..

when i tie my hair back for work i like it...ninja wrapped you might call it...rolled up in a tight bun and right on back of your head so the skin on your neck can show and no lose hairs are out.

though with your locks that might be harder cause they are very big. mine are way way thinner than yours. 1/4 probably.

Ahhh, i get what your saying. Ive had little luck doing that without a hair tie. Ive tried a few times but it just wont stay. Maybe im just doing it wrong. But that would be nice. Plenty of times i made it to work and forgot a tie.

Hopefully someone chimes in cause im curious too.

The Only Time I Use A Hair Tie Is In The Shower, And That's

To Keep Those Pesky Locks Away From My Face Whilst I Shave...:).

LOVED the day my dreads were long enough to tie back with themselves. I can now extend this to ponytails held with a dread, and an up-do held with a dread. YAY

yea i can hardly wait for this...

this week i noticed that the thickness of all my hair pulled back has gotten much bigger... all that air inbetween the dreads...

it has allowed me to tie my hair back even stronger now, so it never moves, cause my ties are getting to small... damn at times it pulls on parts of my head...

i am very impatient with this part of the waiting... =/

i have also recently discovered i can do a dread bun!!! i take one long dread out (leave it loose) while i twist the rest into a bun, then i wrap the loose dread round the other way and tie it with itself in a knot and it keeps the rest in place :D

    YeS!!

I saw a video on youtube i cannont find anymore, as it was several months ago. This girl had long 2foot+ locks and a friend did a video on 5 or 6 ways to tie them.

    Very very cool.

She did some wraps where she would have the hair in a ninja bun but then 4 or 5 locks would be pulled out so kinda spiked out...looked way badass

    :)

I can't wait either! my hair hasn't grown in the year I've had my dreads, it's in fact still shorter than when I started them...
