So this is a rant... It's not bad enough ebay seller fees have gone up over 10% from 5% 10 years ago. My ebay account page now has two banner ads on top. They've had one banner for a while now. Today to top it all off they have a big floating ad panel taking up the bottom right 20% of the screen as I'm trying to search for an item. Holy Shit Fuck!? Seriously!? Seriously, how much revenue do these fucking greedy asshole crooks need to generate!? FUCK ME!!!
I use to shop ebay quite a bit but rarely even go there anymore. I hated that seller didn't write pos or neg comments tell after I did.
My dad buys a lot of military memorabillia off eBay for his collection and says there seems to be hidden aggression by some sellers (and probably buyers too) who have had their margins cut by eBay...the reality is though eBay gives sellers good coverage that probably isn't available elsewhere for the price.
i hate that too i dont leave feedback anymore unless they do first when i pay for it my part is done.
There is always Adblock Plus. It is even available for the crappy Internet Explorer browser, which is why I fail to understand why people constantly complain about ads when they are so easy to remove.
I don't trust adblock to be honest, their software has full access to all your internet data. Other blockers cause page loading issues because the browser is waiting to load ads that are blocked... It's just ridiculous and pure greed on ebay's part, when is it going to end, when they charge 20%? When you have to scroll down 10 ads? When Half the screen is taken by floating ads? I shouldn't have to install data mining software just to manage my account. As far as feedback; When buying I always give feedback when my item is received. This also helps me keep track of what I'm waiting for. For selling, I only ever give feedback after a buyer has given feedback. Then you're sure they're not going to be a problem. This is how I think it should be.
I buy stuff on eBay regularly and never had a problem. You have to do your homework and look into the seller you buy from. I also use Adblock (been for years) with no problems. I don't sell on eBay, nothing to sell. Plus I don't have the patience for that shit.
I use to sell stuff on ebay but quit doing it a long time ago. I did get a beautiful antique table loom on ebay in mint and usable condition, for cheap. So I do still check it out sometimes but I usually shop elsewhere before resorting to ebay. Ads are annoying on most websites. That is why when I build my websites I always make sure they are free of ads even if it costs me an extra few bucks. I hate HULU for the ads as well. You pay for an account there for 7.99 and discover the movies still have ads.
I occasionally buy from ebay. The deterrent to me is the rather aggressive tone of the site. I have a shop on etsy and customers tend to be so considerate, creative-minded, and friendly. Last year I sold a few items on ebay and the customers were unfriendly, almost as if they expected problems. I guess ebay is just a bit too impersonal for my liking.
