perhaps practise can be annoying, but what instrument doesn't hold that possibility (my sister played sax and violin.... ouch.... i was a drummer, as were three of my siblings)....
there's just something kind of hot and sweet and a little old fashioned about it

    Ever hear of Hank Smith?

He plays banjo for Barefoot Manner, who is a regional North Carolina band that has started playing festivals like the Wakarusa and the High Sierra. They are a wonderful combination of jamband bluegrass, late night funk, and shredding rock and roll... Highly recommended... Of course, I'm moderator on their message board, so I might be a little biased...

But if you like Banjo, check out...

Hank Smith is a modern-day, banjo-playing cerebral hottie (at least this is what my wife says, and I can see the charm...)...If that sounds appealing, check out...

And finally, check out my message board...

    Enough self-promotion...

If you're interested in the banjo, you should definately check out anyting that Bela Fleck has done. Whether it's his solo stuff or with the Flecktones or New Grass Revival.

He's arguably the best banjo player.
