Fax via computer

Hello,
So, a friend of mine told me that he has heard from somewhere that you can do fax using your computer if you have an internet connection. I was really getting curious about that and thought it would be great if I ask it here. I am sure that there are some computer and interent gurus out there.

 

Whats fax?

 

Fax.....Seriously don't you know what fax is?

It is possible, but I have no idea how to do it. I have never had need of it.

 

Oh alright, I have to do it at least once a week.
I would love if someone can post how to do it via computer.

 

run FAX and it should open up on windows and tell you what to do.. " A Scanner is needed..

 

^ Alright. Scanner, I don't have scanner at home at the moment, so it means it is useless for me at least presently.

 

Yes there is a company that does the faxing for you through email. I do not have a fax machine so I do all of my faxing through them.

 

Cant remember last time i used a fax machine. Anytime over the last couple of years i've needed anything 'scanned' just take a pic on my phone, crop it then send via email.

I dont really see why you need fax or scanner nowadays phone cam resoultion is ace

 

Some companies require fax and will not accept anything via email. Otherwise I would never have to fax anything.

What if someone like me doesn't have a good phone from which you cannot take a proper picture?
