I can already picture it...February 3, 2013 at the MetLife Stadium, Anonymous turns out the lights at the Superbowl. Occupy NFL!!!
Yeah, because that is what you read online. If anything, the outage was staged in order grant more commercial time. Also, it's funny how with so many Super Bowls, there is this big comeback at the end, where the score becomes very close with little time remaining. I actually believe the Super Bowl is a rigged/staged event. Why wouldn't it be? Nothing on TV is real.
Aren't they supposed to blow it up not turn the lights off... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu8VppgpyVs"]The Dark Knight Rises - Football Stadium Explosion Scene (Clip) - YouTube
I'm actually surprised these things don't happen more often given how much electricity is flowing around those types of stadiums.
yeah, this is really probably what happened. funny how it would have been a non-issue if they just played the super bowl outside in the snow during the daytime like the game was meant to be played.
the fulham vs united game yesterday must have been staged as well wen the lights went out just before half time

It was done by the little bald dude in the Airplane movie who pulled the plug on the runway lights. "Just kidding!"

it might be plausible that they staged it to air more commercials, but during the blackout they didn't really show many commercials, at least not on the canadian broadcast.
On one hand, super bowls always do end like that. On the other hand, I think it's nerves and such on the part of the players. Who would give two fucks about rigging the super bowl? I can't see any political advantage to it... Unless obama wanted to make some money off his bookie
of course they couldn't just run nothing but commercials through the entire blackout, but they did air them at about the same rate that they did during the rest of the game, so extending the game by 30 minutes did allow for a significant increase in commercial time.
So each business (etc) had to pay another 3-4 million pound for their commercial to be played again? What is the same rate? Twice in 30 minutes? Once? Seems a rather expensive way to get some more commercial time.
i would think more realistically they could have sold more commercials than they were going to be able to air without extending the length of the game.
