every city has violence. every city is also generally safe as long as you stay out of the violent areas.

My favourite big cities are San Diego, Portland, Austin , San Francisco. All these places are in excellent locations and have some funky vibe to them.

It is also a mecca for great scenery (Columbia Gorge is awesome!), great parks and good food. Also, people there are nice which is more than I can say for most places.

I lived in Ithaca NY for 20 years before moving here. I loved Ithaca and would move back in a flash if I had the opportunity. I would not like to live in any big city though as I prefer more rural settings.

I do not live in United States, but if I could, I would choose Salt Lake City!

    It looks so beautiful!

i will soon be moving from chicago, which is a great city, although violent, dirty, and over-populated. but if you're into the night life, chicago is for you, there's a ridiculous amount of people, and they're always looking to spice things up, somehow.

i've never lived anywhere else though, so i suppose we shall see!

Salt lake city is pretty nice. If you like tall white mormons its the place to be. Also a lot of weird straight edge kids there

good city to live in is a self contradiction.

if you have a source of income you don't have to be a slave to, transportation is the only thing, other then that, one place is as good or bad as another.

if you can have a vehicule that can tollerate imperfect roads without have to be a slave to it, then there's no good reason to go anywhere near any city, other then maybe take in a day of shopping, or eating, or college libraries, and for that leave the car at home and ride in on the train.

i live in a town that's just big enough to have a decent bus system, because i'd rather have what it takes to keep a car running, to spend on computers and model trains.
