The health departments of most states have a section where grievances about health care facilities can be reported. Some can be rerported online. The complaint needs to be factual and reported within a certain amount of time from the incident. The Health Department usually discloses to the public the complaint history of the facilities. One can usually view the complaints online, such as those about bed sores, physical or mental abuse, and so on.
I used to volunteer at an assisted living place exactly like this, minus the bed bugs. I hardly ever saw any nurses there at all. I don't know where they were or what they did all the time. One time this lady came out of her room crying and confused because she had shit herself. I walked all over the place looking for a nurse or a cna and I finally gave up and helped her myself. I'm sure you can report this anonymously. Its not really about being an employee upset with your own work conditions, its about being a health care employee and having a responsibility towards the patients to make sure any unfit conditions are reported to the right authorities.
assisted home living is the way to go..begin with home schooling.. this idea of going from one institution to another thru life sounds like a big scam to me..
Right on Orison - why all the institutions? Build a family and take care of each other, love your neighbor, feed a stray animal. :daisy:
Some of us still do, but have you heard some of the young people's rants these days? They are not having kids because of overpopulation, or whatever their excuse is. The bigger picture eludes them... Thousands of old people, and four young people to take care of them all.
i think you should definitely bring this to the attention of osha.... i also think, when people are being mistreated so evidently, you really shouldn't be concerned about your own well-being, there are too many other people at stake in this situation! sorry if that comes off as offensive though. i would be concerned with my own well-being too, but i think i would try to put myself aside. is there no job placement for places over turned by osha?
Having kids does not insure that they will take care of you in your time of need. I am taking care of my Dad especially since Thanksgiving and him needing a pacemaker, hospital for eight days and NH for five weeks but the thing is I could not live with him. Even if you don't live with them there is so much to do. He is much better now but without his skilled nursing and physical therapy we would both be dead by now. I am totally drained from the last two months.
