It seems to be everywhere in U.S. culture.

    cornmeal
    cornbread
    cornstarch
    modified cornstarch
    corn dogs
    corn chips
    corn flour
    corn meal
    corn oil
    corn whiskey
    corn alcohol
    corn-fed livestock (chickens, cattle)
    corn syrup
    high fructose corn syrup

That last one might be the ultimate. Made from the leftover stuff of the corn industry, processed, and put into so many food products.

corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn corn
    corn

Let us not forget corny jokes too.

If you've lived in the U.S. for a while, did you ever get the feeling you're turning into a big piece of corn?

Corn syrup is plant sugar. HFCS is not great for you, like sucrose (sugar) in large amounts, but it's painted in an almost comical fashion because it has a lotta letters in the acronym.

And yeah, there is a lotta corn in stuff. When there was a big push a few years ago to get bio fuel, the corn industry pretty much insured that we would use corn as a source of ethanol, despite the fact that corn is not very cost effective way to do this, and that's a large reason that ethanol use hasn't increased.

Brazil has somewhere around 50% of its energy use come from sugarcane, which produces about twice as much ethanol per acre as sugarcane. Brazil also contains pretty ladies and a big statue of Jesus.

You can replace 'corn' with 'hamburger' too.

I try to avoid most corn products. Practically every item in the grocery store contains some type of corn, so I usually skip prepackaged foods and just buy meat and veggies.

Yes it is! I used to eat Campbell's soup a lot until I realized a lot of their soups contain high fructose corn syrup

Beef and chicken are usually corn-fed in the U.S., from what I understand. It's not like the old days where all catlle would be fed by grazing on grass. So even store-bought meat is often corn-based in the U.S.

McDonald's Chicken McNuggets are supposedly high in corn content or corn-based ingredients.

The U.S. corn industry has plenty of political and economic clout.

Nice how the sweet-tasting HFCS is in so many food products where it shouldn't even be.

90-something percent of corn in the US is GMO. It's very frightening to think that something that prevalent is tainted like that. Rare types of corn that certain Native American tribes grew were featured in the latest Mother Earth News.

Yes, but was it genetically modified corn and was everything laced with high fructose corn syrup.

Speaking of beans, some of the store-bought pork n' beans have high fructose corn syrup.

i heard of a guy who was making out with his girlfriend up at lookout point and there was a scraping at the door so they left, and when they got home there was a hook hanging from her door handle.

stories like this aren't really reliable unless you knew the guy yourself.

anyway, it is quite possible that it is true (although what a shitty existence only eating two things ever). just like there have been documented cases of guys surviving nails and spikes through their brains, although i wouldn't necessarily recommend that either.

HFCS is in pretty much all processed foods, which is why I don't eat them.

Soy is also found in many processed foods, which is just as bad, IMO, as corn syrup. It amazes me how many people still believe soy is healthy.
