I do not know how many times I have read all the Dr. Seuss books to my kids, but I must have most of them memorized. I wonder if the parents that named their children Sam, (in the region that I live) had a thing for, Green Eggs and Ham? Most of the teens that hang out with my son are named Sam. Both female and male Sams. It is so weird. We have taken to calling them boy Sam, Jo Sam, Who Sam, etc...Each Sam has a sort of nick name to identify them. What is the most common name in the area that you live?
Sam seems popular in U.S. pop culture. Not sure why, but Sam was a popular name on the old Flintstones cartoons. Sam is a Jewish name from what I understand. The Jewish Howard family of The Three Stooges named one of its sons Samuel. The Jewish mother would yell Sams! when he was a kid and to the other two brothers it sounded like 'Shemp'. Apparently, that's where Shemp got his stage name.
There seems to be a proliferation of Bobs and Bobbies in my life...even before I knew about the "Bob."
i can't remember ever having met a sam. pizza places in my experience. i've worked at a bunch of them and in almost every one dave was either the general manager or an assistant manager. and i also interviewed with a dave that ran his own pizza company. now i'm working for the government, but dave runs one of the departments i deal with a lot.
Around here I know 5 Taylors...and know of 3 more. All girls...People LOVE to name girls boy names and last names. Also names that end with leigh...like Ashleigh, Ansleigh, Bayleigh, Kayleigh, Bryleigh The boy's names tend to run the gamut.
People name their kids like a fashion craze. Everyone wants that particular something right now that's in vogue.
