Dear fellow Hip Forums members, i am a big fan of this forum. I have enjoy the posts and it feels like a nice little community. I am 21 and live in London and this post is about some seriously needed advice or a kick up my backside. I sometimes feel i should be in harmony with myself. Always be focused and know what i want and plan things. Especially at my age, but this is not always the case.

I am trying to plan my days effectively not create a long list. Where by the end of the day i feel demotivated and confident with myself when i realized nothing is done. So i ask fellow members, what do you do to have a productive day and make sure you get everything done. I see people who are focused and have a plan. I have a plan but struggle to take steps without getting distracted by YouTube or getting bored.

Please let me know you input and thoughts.

Thank you very much, fellow members.

Well, if these things you wanna do don't involve a computer one of the most effective ways to stay away from surfing youtube and the likes is just shut the computer off for a couple of hours. It is usually the little things and habits that keep you from doing stuff in your free time cause you are in your own comfy rhythm and situation at home. For me I felt I made kinda an excuse to leave the computer on because I like to play music on it. But in the end I was too busy selecting tunes and straying away surfing to this site for example :D
Yes, short lists are really important for me too. What maybe helps is to also put an indication of how much time you're gonna need for each task on your to do lists. Especially if you do that roughly and a bit too broad you feel extra good when you finish some things earlier in my experience! :) Also important is to not put too many things on your to do list on the same day. Split your stuff up and do 2 or 3 things on it a day, plan the rest on other days. And of course if you are a weed smoker: time it :p

Edit: get up no later then 9:30 a.m. If you have to start doing stuff around 5 o clock in the evening you most likely settle for less because there is less time for fun left which makes it easier acceptable to make concessions...

Chores and productivity have never been my strong traits. I have also noticed that my self-discipline comes in cycles, so sometimes I just wait for a cycle to come around.

Basically though, I have a lot of responsibility, so I prioritize. I determine what needs to be done, no option. I do that, then add on a "project".....usually one that I've procrastinated. Mananging time for me is about not falling behind on too much stuff. Once that happens, it becomes overwhelming, and then it's really hard to be productive.
