Lately I've been leaning toward the semicolon. Not that I really know what I'm doing with it; but it's fun to throw it in; now and again. This thing, ~ ,bothers me. Seems to be pretty useless, just takes up space on my keyboard. That spot should be re-designated for a smiley face; or something similar.
Is that like a stab wound?, no I guess that would be a puncture mark. The parenthetical aside can be enlightening, (parenthesis)!
i don't know the exact semicolon rules, but i think you're using it where a comma would be appropriate. a semicolon basically replaces a period when you have two complete sentences that you want to join together; use it in that situation instead. i always enjoyed those upside down question marks they use in spanish.
I would have to say question mark and exclamation point because I usually know where they belong. Sadly I never did get punctuation to save my life. I went back to college when I was 40 years old and by then, anything I had learned, was totally gone. I would usually write papers, read them, and then just sit back and throw punctuation marks at them. One professor said she liked my writing but asked if I just did not believe in punctuation. I told her of my mental block about it and she said, "Don't worry, that is what editors are for."
Have you been watching QI recently? I never use ; and I hardly ever use ! I've moved away from ... but still like - .
periods... usually placed in threes... at the end of spaced out lines... and then sometimes a solitary one down below to space out the signature gap... sometimes i hit comma by accident when aiming for periods but i just leave them... .
the schwa im not sure if thats what its called but they called it that on a simpsons episode. anyway it looks like a backwards e
