I've pondered and wondered where my buddhist brothers and sisters are? Being a hippy is not about sporting a flower crown (although I am a sporter) , It is about the introspective Philosophy. It is not only promoting Peace but feeling it radiate in your very Self! It is a genuine love of the universe, a genuine adoration of freedom, a whimsical, intellectual lifestyle. It is diving into your own psyche and feeling an appreciation for it, a love of You which will inevitably turn into the 'love for people!' . So prance in fields! converse with flowers! Smoke your joints and bombard yourself with thought. Some people say it is too 'optimistic' and we must be Realistic! Well I say, yes! there is misery in the world, yes! sorrow will invade the Self that has opened itself to the world. But why allow it to chain us? Why feel the sorrow and allow it to slash our Joys and our Peace? We'll cure the world of misery and sorrows only by adjusting our individual selves and then uniting our Peace, Love and liberating personnas and making a change. My messege is: Dont neglect the philosophy of 'hippiedom', It is the core and seed of it all.
I don't feel that there's a single 'hippie' philosophy. Not to say that I don't agree, but I think that only by neglecting that hippie philosophy can we grow. Remember, if you meet Buddha on the road- kill him.
I think really hippie is a label for a people who share a the inner feeling of peace & love are stereotyped like any other group as being the same when its very vast & the people within cross over many many groups so really there is no groups but people must label, reality is truth but truth isn't always reality
I also think it is very important to be happy but don't be ignorant! There is suffering in the world and I'm not about to look at the injustices of the world, sit back and just be happy. That seems terribly unnatural to me. Instead I'm going to get mad and I am going to get off my ass and try to do something about it.
