Hello, I am planning on getting dreads, yay!! But I have a question first that I need help with. I want longer dreads then I have hair right now so I plan on adding real hair to my dreads. I have researched this and know how to do it but what I am afraid of is that my dreads will be in the beginning stage and might have difficulties holding on to an extension. Does anyone have any advice or tips to help me make sure the real hair extensions take well to my new dreads, and the best ways to prevent the extension from falling out or looking like an extension? Cheers!
If you're dreading the extensions yourself you can problem get them to look pretty realistic, well if you dread the extension in the same way that you dread your own hair. I've seen a few different ways of connecting them, none of which looked all that convincing to me, there always seemed to be an obvious notch and kink where the real dread met the extension. But I know there are some experts on extensions here somewhere and hopefully they can give you some tips.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you should not extend baby dreads. The sudden weight can cause weak spots in the dreads. You should dread your hair & let them mature for 8-12 months before extending them.
If I was on Dragon's Den and someone tried to get me to invest in a new invention called "hair extensions" I'd laugh them out of the room... but they're straaangely popular.
Thanks for the info guys... I've been hearing so many different things, not sure what to believe. So say no way others say it's fine.
^This.^ Let them mature some. Then you can extend. Grab some patience or this hair style is going to drive you nuts.
