So, there's a nation-wide atheist meeting happening on 2/17 in Brazil. I am going to one of the chapters. Have you taken part in one? What should I expect? I was never particularly militant about it, but as I became older and grumpier, things like religious symbols paid for with my tax money began to bother me more and more. I also think that I am going to be on the fringe of the atheist movement due to the fact that I am not a liberal, and I am especially concerned with things like state involvement in marriage. Why do you think atheism is automatically associated with lefty whackism? ------------ Edit: Just by way of curiosity, the meeting will be held at a cathedral.
The reason Atheism tends more towards the far left is because the right and the religious evangelists are bedfellows. But, and this is just speculation on my part, I would not be surprised to find out that at least half of the people who run religious or political organizations all over the world are in fact amoral athiests taking advantage of all-day suckers. Did you know you made thread 666? I think there's some kind of door prize for that.
I'm a moral athiest, however, and should make it clear that I would never condone such huckstering as that above-mentioned. I've always been smart enough to take advantage of people in that way, but something in me makes it impossible to actually do it. A... conscience, I think they call it.
does not the sun rise the same on every day? so how can only one day be the day of the sun. christianity has made cleche's to which it seeks, unwittingly perhaps, but seeks none the less, to pointlessly enslave us all.
lefty whackism? Seriously? Good Grief! It doesn't sound like you're quite ready for rational thought.
