That makes total sense! I'm going to my first AA meeting next week, mainly because I feel like I need support to not be so reckless with drinking. I always go beyond the buzz.
alchohol and socialising are inextricably linked. indeed, archeologically speaking, the birth of a civilisation is marked by the evidence of alchohol production and consumption. this is because it means that the society is producing more than is necessary for them to survive, and are now out of hte stage in which every day is a struggle for survival, and able to dedicate time and resources to a leisure activity. the place where they get drunk together at the end of the day becomes their first social hub and marks the time when they start to become a society and not merely farmers who work in areas close by each other. alchohol has always been both a social lubricant and societal glue.
I drink for a number of reasons. Most importantly, I love the feeling. I'm kinda shy so alcohol helps me loosen up socially. Also, I appreciate the taste and smell of a quality beer.
I drink alcohol because you can't smoke it. I tried and I just ended up with a surprised expression and no eyebrows.
