I've heard that taking loperamide (aka immodium) helps with withdrawl symptoms from opiates (all opiates or just heroin?) like a lot of it. a whole bottle just what I've heard
I heard if you take a couple it helps with withdraw as in the bad case of the shits you get when detoxing.. If you take a bunch I'm sure you'll burst your intestines or something I'd just take the recommended dose to help with the shits.. And no it won't get you high if you take 100+ it just makes no sense to me.. People will say it will and they swear by it but I doubt it does.. Hope that helps..
I've used it before, and it helps with wd's somewhat. Not a great deal, though, and mainly with diarrhea. I used 16mg per day (8 tablets), and I got some minor relief, so there is something to it. It binds with opiate receptors in the large intestine, but that's it, unless you take certain other drugs with it. Supposedly Omeprazole is one of the drugs that help Loperamide to cross the blood-brain barrier, and I take it every day for acid reflux, so maybe that's why it worked for me. As for achieving typical opiod-like effects, I've heard it may be possible if you take massive doses of Loperamide along with a drug called Quinidine. But it wouldn't be worth it. Imodium is something like $8 for a box of 18 pills, and Qunidine is a heart medication, so you'd have to have a script for that. Something that really works is Gabapentin (Neurontin). I have a script for it for neuropathy (400mg 3x/day), but in doses of 2400mg+ per day it eliminates most withdrawal symptoms. There is still some diarrhea and low-level cravings, but that's about it. I've heard of another similar drug that's even better called Pregabalin (Lyrica), that's prescribed for the same conditions.
Listen to that advice from happydude take gabapentin or lyrica. Stay away from Imodium I don't care what anyone says. You will mess up ur digestive system to the point of surgery or toxicity. A lot of kids promote Imodium but it will screw you up bad in the short end. I don't care what the majority says. Lyrica is superior to Gabapentin only in that it will knock you out faster and longer so u won't be up to have withdrawals. In my opinion of course. A 50mg lyrica will kick my ass in 5 min as opposed to 1500mg of gabapentin.
I took like 10 immodium one time to help my withdraw all i did was give me a really bad stomach cramp. If you take that stuff you have to drink a ton of fluid.
I have been in pain management since 2001. On everything from lortab to dillaudid to fentnyl patches. I now take 40 mg hydrocodone compounds. When I run out between refills I use red veined kratom to bridge me over to my refill. I take 5 to 7 grams twice a day and have no withdrawl symptoms whatsoever. It is truly a God send. It took me awhile to find the right vendor with the right quality. They have several different types of kratom ; but the red veined thai or indo works the best for pain and withdrawal symptoms. Kratom is all natural. It is the dried leaves from a certain species of tree that grows around Asia. I really mean NO withdrawal symptoms. heavenly-products dot com Google it!!!!!!!!!!!!
As a tea, you also want to research the different strains. They all give you different effects. More hyper to more sedating. Go to Mu Synergentics.com
Just speaking for me personally, Loperamide is a lifesaver. I prefer to take Gabapentin in addition, but I have used just the Loperamide to decent effect. Mind you, my tolerance is pretty low compared to most. 30 mg Oxycodone five days a week, rest for two. But I'm in the midst of some very tricky as WD from Tramadol of all things. This has happened to me before though, and I'm here to tell you that I'm much better off with Loperamide than without. I take 10 2mg tabs the first three days, cut down gradually throughout the process. And I always accompany that with 2 colace. I never have any bowel issues. Hope that helps.
Yeah, 20mg is a decent dose. And it does help. The Gabapentin works better, though, at least in my opinion.
Kratom works wonders for sure- Maeng Da, about 5 capsules, maybe less depending on tolerance, it will help you thru the dreaded WD's. Kratom is addictive too so be careful with the amount you use, it's alot less potent than hydrocodone but you need to take it easy. can be a god-send if you do it right. It can also cause nausea so make sure you try to eat something with protein 20 minutes prior to ingestion. I've had alot of experience with this in the past, any kratrom concerns I might be able to help with
