    Amazing. Saw it for the first time last night. It's a real example of what cinema does that no other art form can do. I love how Scorsese's *style* is so elegant -- the Edward Hopper cinematography and composition; the gorgeous score -- even when his subject is so gritty. Also, it was a great capture of 1970s New York.

    I saw it back when it first came out (yes, I'm old) and worked in a movie theater. People were running out during the ending scene because of the violence. I love the film. It's one of my all time favorites.
